Which quickly then resulted in a multitude of Vietnamese being slaughtered and the sacrifices of thousands of our armed forces paying with their lives assisting them in their fight for freedom disgraced.
While there might be a parallel drawn to the recent decision to pull our troops out of the nation building quagmire known as Syria. Those media resources doing so will be the same ones who supported the ignominious Vietnamese abandonment using the same hue and cry of no nation building (Which we were not doing. The leaked emails from Hillary’s campaign, along with the other shenanigans (see Jake Tapper’s “states we need to win” comment) should have caused mass resignations by the media if they wanted to claim honesty and impartiality; they didn’t even bother, giving up any attempt to conceal their positions as paid propagandists for the Democratic Party.
I recently watched a documentary on the fall of South Vietnam, and one guy who had been in the service/possibly CIA back then described the spark that set off the NVA invasion in early 1975 (instead of later, as expected, after the costly failure of the Easter Offensive in 1972): Nixon’s resignation emboldened Hanoi, because they were terrified of him. Once he was out of office, they knew the iron was hot - the US wouldn’t intervene. Not only did we stand by doing nothing, Congress cut the aid to South Vietnam - they literally ran out of ammunition.
My biggest concern is how to replace Trump once he is no longer in office; he is a rare breed indeed, and the only person in Washington I believe.
