Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) rejected President Donald Trumps call to partially fund the border wall with a simple majority vote on Friday, suggesting not enough Senate Republicans support the measure.
President Trump called on McConnell to use the nuclear option, or switch to a simple majority vote in the Senate, to pass the continuing resolution (CR) that would partially fund the border wall...

IDIOT REPUBLICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stop bashing McConnell.
He can’t change the rules without 51 votes. He can’t pass the bill without 50 votes, if he first changes the rules. If he can’t change the rules, then he needs 60 votes.
It’s all mental masturbation. He’s not even close to 50 votes. And the new House would never pass such a bill to begin with.
If he builds the wall without an Act of Congress, or rather if he starts to, he will be impeached and removed.
If he orders the military to arrest the Congress, they will refuse.
This is the bottom line: The People have elected a Congress which is fiercely opposed to President Trump, fiercely opposed to a wall, and which supports with significant majorities unlimited illegal immigration.
Your problem is not with President Trump, and it is not with Mitch McConnell. The problem is Congress, and the people who elected them.
Turtle might as well go ahead with the “so called” nuclear option.
Get stuff done. If the RATs get control again, they will go with the nuclear option from day one.
And if McConnell had bigger nads, or better, if you were Senate Majority Leader your own self, how would you get Flake, Murkowski, Collins, Corker, and Hatch to vote "yea" on a rule change?
And understand, in the GOP caucus, the Resistance to Trump is much bigger than those 5. If Corker switches to "yea", Burr will vote "no". If Colllins switches to "yea", Thune will vote "no". And so on.
It's in all of their interests to make you believe we are THIS CLOSE to victory, and if only Trump wouldn't have mentioned pussy grabbing (or whatever), you would be rewarded for your loyalty to the GOP with real changes.
Unfortunately, this is not true. The number of closet liberals in the GOP caucus isn't 3, or four. It's closer to 20-25.
And on one point, they are united - Trump must be humiliated and seen to be failing, so they can get on with removing him.
Just wait until Romney is sworn in. You ain't seen nothing yet.
Yes, Pence can’t vote on rule changes.
Actually, Mitch knows that politics is the art of the possible.
“I doubt anything like that goes on any more”
Oh sure it does, but with the deep state running things now, it's the Patriotic Constitutionalists members that are threatened.
And their wives, children and relatives too.
Corruption runs deep
It is obviously done by Pelosi & schumer as their subjects vote in lockstep.

***************************
We will have a list after the recorded vote is done about coming back into session tomorrow at noon.
Looks like about twice that number will need to be primaried.
He could just get rid of the two-track option for filibusters, which radically increased the frequency of them from about once a year to dozens of times a year.
But, apparently, the Senate is to dumb to return to such a sane time.
Chuck Schumer reading Beastie Boys lyrics in the well of the Senate to stop wall funding would look good only in the eyes of his warped base.
Of course he did.
The GOP RINOs still don’t get it, we sent them there to save the country from what the socialist left are planning. It’s no longer about old rules and not going nuclear because that’s not they way things have been done before; blah,blah,blah..
It’s about getting our agenda through. If the democrats ever have a 1 vote majority in the senate, they will use the “nuclear” option on every bill they want passed. We should be doing the same thing, 51 votes it’s done.
Your argument assumes that McConnell has no role and no leverage, which is not true. Furthermore, it ignores the fact that every damned one of them is compromised in some way.
The composition of the Senate on the GOP side of the aisle is largely a function of McConnell’s “leadership”, his management of the NRSC and his choices as to which candidates to endorse and support financially. McConnell and the NRSC have consistently endorsed and supported people like Flake, Murkowsky, Collins, etc., and, in some cases, actively campaigned against conservative candidates when they succeed in spite of him.
So, to answer your question, if I were Senate majority leader “my own self”, I wouldn’t be anything like McConnell. Knowing that they’re all compromised in some way, I would wield my leverage like a sledge hammer in much the same way that Pelosi and Schumer do; I assume you know that not every single Democratic member of the House and Senate are in absolute lock-step agreement on every policy issue. Our problem is that McConnell is far more closely aligned to Pelosi and Schumer that he is to Trump.
We should be doing the same thing, 51 votes its done
But you dont have 51 votes.
I don’t think I was bashing McConnel.
I would have thought Schumer’s (all Democrats’) fave lyrics would have been from Two Live Crew, describing how they like to “do” America with their policies:
“Face Down... “
Now that the commies have the House, the RINOs in the Senate are going to turn on Trump faster than you can nuke North Korea.
McConnell is either a coward, incompetent, a fool, or loser, or any combination thereof.
He makes an Oscar Meyer weiner seem like a Sequoia compared to him.
#3. It should be “Remember Mitch, No GUT, No Nuts!
