In MARY POPPINS RETURNS, Michael Banks is all grown up & has his own children in need of a Nanny. Michael has had a hard year, after his wife passed. His three children think they must grow up so they can help out their daddy.
On top of that, the Bank tells Michael they will repossess their home if the entire bank loan isnt paid by the end of the week. Michael & his sister Jane remember that their father had stocks in the bank. They just must find the stock certificate.
Not long after, Mary Poppins comes to help the children & bring joy and imagination back to the Banks family.
MARY POPPINS RETURNS has excellent songs, animation, and a well-plotted story. The movie follows much of the lighthearted style of the original, with traditional animation. It also has great musical numbers, with nods to the original MARY POPPINS.
MARY POPPINS RETURNS is a well-made, adorable, enjoyable, fun movie that the whole family will like. It has a strong moral worldview about supporting each other as a family & helping others.

Are they the least bit surprised that Mary Poppins hasn’t aged any?
Parentpreviews.com:
“This is a good family movie, and the audience at the screening I attended clapped and cheered at the end.”
She looks too prissy.
Why can’t hollywood have intact families?
No one needs to die to tell a good story.
From kids-in-mind.com:
Mary Poppins Returns MESSAGE
- “Grownups forget how to be children. Don’t forget what it’s like to be a child.”
So, its the same message as the original....
The Mary Poppins movies are based on a series of books written by P.L.Travers.
and why can’t the bank or some other financial institution refinance?
and why didn’t he insure the risk through life insurance?
Responsibility.
I agree. The other, not that I ever saw the film, or cared to, seemed much more "down-to-earth" (pun unintended), at least based on clips and photos I've seen.
Too many people never stop being children these days. It’s a problem: we need responsible adults.
I won’t wanna grow up, I’m a Toys R Us ... nevermind.
:P
You're joking, right? Nearly half of Disney films (from Lion King through Frozen) involve the death of a parent or parents. And almost every Marvel and DC cartoon character from long age shares this experience (Batman, Superman, Spiderman, etc)
Walt Disney had a family tragedy with his relatives so every Disney film must kill a family member off. That is just weird.
MPR is not doing well in box office.
Production budget $130m.
“Mary Poppins Returns is projected to gross $49-51 million from 4,090 theaters over its first five-days (including around $35 million in its first weekend) and a total of $75 million over its first week of release.”
“$4.8 million from 3,900 theaters on its first day of release.”
If he had invested his tuppence, instead of feeding the damned birds with it, he might not have been in that pickle.
