Democratic operatives created fake Russian bots designed to link Kremlin to Roy Moore in Alabama...

Democratic operatives, backed by a liberal billionaire and facilitated by a former Obama official, created thousands of fake Russian accounts to give an impression the Russian government was supporting Alabama Republican Roy Moore in last year’s election against now-Sen. Doug Jones.

The secret project, which had a budget of just $100,000 and was carried out on Facebook and Twitter, was revealed after the New York Times obtained an internal report detailing the efforts.

“We orchestrated an elaborate ‘false flag’ operation that planted the idea that the Moore campaign was amplified on social media by a Russian botnet,” the internal report said. It also took credit for “radicalizing Democrats with a Russian bot scandal” after experimenting “with many of the tactics now understood to have influenced the 2016 elections.”

Jones told Politico on Thursday he wants a federal investigation over the project “to see if there were any laws that were broke.”

One participant in the project reportedly was Jonathon Morgan, the chief executive of New Knowledge, a firm that wrote a report – released by the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this week – about Russia’s social media operations in the 2016 election and its efforts to hurt Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump.

If $100,000 can swing an election then campaign funding as we know it is over.

Politicians have always been dishonest.

But at NO other time have so many Americans seen SO MUCH lying and graft from SO MANY politicans.

And they go TOTALLY unpushed.

One country, TWO systems.

The remarkable thing is that this was first reported by the New York Times.

Isn’t this all part n parcel of what they did or accused Trump of doing as well?

Their were two goals:

1) Swing the election to Jones.

2) Validate the core premises of the Russian collusion theorists.

I am embarrassed by my fellow Alabama voters. Roy Moore was not a particularly attractive choice; the sexual misconduct charges against Moore were easily identified as old, worn out, standard operating procedure slander floated by the Rats.

Luther Strange was a considerably worse choice than Moore.

Doug Jones was an atrocity of a choice. Rats vote like they are told to vote. No way was Jones going to represent the people of Alabama, and he hasn’t. Can’t believe the leftist creep voted against Kavanaugh . . . yeah that is really representing the people of Alabama

Agreed.

He lost because we picked a loopy candidate who couldn't stop saying and doing dumb things.

Look how vague The NY Times headline is. If you didn’t read it you might assume it was Trump who did it:

“Secret Experiment in Alabama Senate Race Imitated Russian Tactics”

Audio files can now be faked.

Technology is now on the verge of creating very realistic picture and video fakes.

This report highlights the ability to create fake Internet blog activity and falsely link it to another party.

The credibility of any computer-related information is now in serious doubt.

And yet, we are so reliant on IT, we have no realistic alternative to using it.

Well said. I’m also embarrassed by the gullibility of the Alabama voters.

First of all, I want to emphasize that, originally, I wasn’t a Moore supporter and didn’t consider him to be a good candidate. IMO, Mo Brooks was the best choice. But the Establishment took care of that.

Contrary to what some Non-Alabama freepers believe, Luther Strange was a horrible candidate. In addition to being a GOPe tool, he was up to his ears in corruption, including the scandal involving former Governor Bentley. Strange would have lost.

As I have stated before, Moore has been a polarizing figure for decades. If he had been guilty of sexual misconduct, those women would have come forward years ago. Any thinking person should have pondered why those women suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Also, the fact that Gloria Allred was involved should have been an enormous red flag.

I became a Moore supporter when Allred and her fellow hags started to recite their false stories and slander. Even the mother of one of the accusers stated that her daughter was lying.

Unfortunately, the Alabama media is almost as leftist as the national media and they were happy to help slander Moore.

As for the voters, I mostly blame the pearl clutchers in the wealthy suburbs such as Mountain Brook and Hoover- Ross Bridge. I will probably get grief for this but I also blame the “Holier Than Thou” Evangelical crowd.

Jones is an unmitigated disaster and an embarrassment. He doesn’t represent me.

I voted for Moore. Have followed his career for years and didn’t believe the allegations against him for even a minute. Sadly back during the 10 Commandment rallies, there were more there from out of state supporting him than from Alabama...sigh

Roy Moore was slandered and libeled by RINOpublicans who themselves, I doubt not, are lavishly named in the secret Shush Fund list - and cookie-cutter conservatives eagerly joined in the attack.

Who needs DemoKKKrats to do any damage?

Well said.

If you mean “Evangelical” in the non-Biblical, cultural (especially secular media) sense, i.e., quasi-Anabaptist/Armenian, then I concur. If you mean it in the truly Biblical sense, I do not.

All authentic Christians are Evangelical by definition.

Baptist types historically are both culturally traditional and politically “liberal”: Democrats, not Republicans. See Jimmy Carter as Exhibits A, B, and C.

As such, they tend to be both puritanical and socialistic.

Old saying in the South to a stranger in town: “So, are you a Baptist or a Republican?”

I have been in ministry. I attended a “non-denominational” (read: closet Anabaptist) school for six years. I am an expert on that sub-culture.

I, a Lutheran by parental directive as well as personal inclination (and only one of three in the whole school), was routinely slandered during those six years. I was told to my face that Lutherans were NOT evangelical - even though I belonged to the EVANGELICAL Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, a denomination with one of the largest missionary outreach organizations of any major denomination.

There were more than a few non-dancing future commie types there. My former best friend, a Baptist, became a flaming Marxist.

I guarantee you that many of the so-called Evangelical hypocrites who attacked Roy Moore were not consciously conservative.

Excellent post and you described my opinions very well. Your definition is what I meant by “Evangelical”. I should have been more specific.

I know some good people who are Baptists but, more often than not, I find many of them extremely judgmental, hypocritical and, as you stated, puritanical.

And yes, many do vote democrat.

When I was very young, we were members of a Free Will Baptist Church. There were some nice, genuine people there but, as a whole, the church was holier than thou and hypocritical.

For example, when I was around 12, my mom bought a cute Easter dress for me. She didn’t know that it was actually a minidress. It didn’t matter though because I’m very petite and it wasn’t that short on me.

One of the deacons of the church kept staring at me because of that dress. I wanted to go up to him and ask how his wife felt about him having a mistress but I was afraid I would get in trouble, lol. Hypocrite.

I am interested in two denominations: Evangelical Lutheran Missouri Synod and Eastern Orthodox. Yes, I know those two are polar opposites but my interest in Eastern Orthodoxy comes from my Russian ancestry. The services I have viewed on YouTube look absolutely beautiful.

But, in my small town, there are no Lutheran-Missouri Synod nor Orthodox. But there are plenty of Baptist churches. Sigh.
