The dramatic Tuesday hearing for former national security adviser Mike Flynn didnt produce a sentence. Instead, Judge Emmet Sullivan gave Mr. Flynn a delay to reconsider his options. I was in the courtroom, and my reading of Judge Sullivans treatment of Mr. Flynn (with whom I co-wrote a 2016 book) was rather different from what most reporters have said and written.
Judge Sullivan repeatedly invited Mr. Flynn to reconsider his guilty plea on a charge of lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Judge Sullivan stressed that he had not presided over earlier proceedings in the case and that he was prepared to have Mr. Flynn change his plea or even ask for a dismissal of charges. At times, the judge seemed to implore Mr. Flynn to reopen the deal he made with special counsel Robert Mueller, implying that there was reason to believe his guilty plea had been wrongfully arranged.
Mr. Flynn wasnt interested. Over and over he told Judge Sullivan that he was comfortable with his confession, did not wish to have it reconsidered, and wanted the judge to pronounce sentence. But Judge Sullivan continued unsuccessfully to invite a change in Mr. Flynns plea.
The discussion then shifted to whether the sentence should include jail timewhich prosecutors had recommended against. Mr. Flynns lawyers stressed that he had fully cooperated with Mr. Mueller, andas the special counsels written statements have reiteratedhe remained cooperative. That could include testifying against Mr. Flynns former business associates in a case from Virginia involving the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

I didn’t see that today, was too busy.
He’s out of control, I had a little bit of hope
clearly so, but this judge familiar with the scum prosecutors (but, sadly not the facts of this case) was ready to dismiss, imho.
Then Mueller would option--or not--to go for the foreign agent charge, which Flynn couldn't afford to defend. Since judge Sullivan slandered from the bench with his ignorance of the timing of Flynn's foreign agent service and the resulting bogus accusation, Flynn could win a dismissal. Such infractions usually get a do-over and maybe a fine.
Sad to say, but it's a G-damn department of injustice.
He is being blackmailed financially by the US Government.
I’m no longer proud of my nation.
Agree with you. I was being magnanimous
If you’re right, no one would be more aware of that than Flynn...so why didn’t he take the out the judge repeatedly offered? None of us knows the whole story.
reagan brought him into the federal judge system.
ghw bush took him to the next level.
clinton took him to where he is now.
Clintoon Judge that rules against Trump 24/7
I do not believe Mr. Flynn lied to the FBI. I think he lied when he made his deal with Mr. Mueller, and his confession was a false one. The president can provide clarity by releasing all relevant documents.
Yes, Mr. President, please RELEASE ALL RELEVANT DOCUMENTS.

“I dont believe that he , or his cohorts will ever be charged with anything.”
Two of his ‘cohorts’ were charged last Monday ...
Why is Flynn not fighting against the Mueller coup?
Why wouldn’t Flynn use a public defender for free?
Why is Flynn being a pussy when Manafort isnt?
The judge should have put Flynn in jail until he explains just why he wants to plead guilty. Imo, this has to be some sort of fraud upon the court for political reasons.
Please ping me when you post it. Thanks.
Because he is being blackmailed financially by the US Government.
Yet nothing happens when Senator Feinstein employed a Chinese spy for 20 years when she was Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
“Probably half of America could be prosecuted in this manner.”
I’d say more like 100% if they’re really after you. If they can’t find anything they’ll fabricate it.

It really does sound like Sullivan was trying to help Flynn, even with the "treason" nonsense. He doesn't want Flynn to take the easy way out with a phony guilty plea.
However, what helps Flynn prove his innocence might not help Flynn's son or Flynn's bank account.
