Brilliant John Thune advocates for what the Democrats want - no wall, no fencing.

Anchor Neil Cavuto asked, “Are you of the mindset that reallocating funds from another department, let’s say Defense, is a wise strategy, or would that be rejected out of hand?”
Thune responded, “I’m not a big fan of moving money. I think Defense ought to — we ought to be building airplanes and ships and all the things that we need to do to defend the country. But there are always dollars in budgets that you can move around, and in the Homeland Security budget, for example. And that’s the way that the appropriators came up with a mechanism that would allow another roughly billion dollars to be used for border security, but limited to border security measures other than a fence, other than a border wall, which is what the Democrats have been advocating for.”

Our only hope, in the next full session of Congress, is for a massive lightning strike to hit the Capital and take out all who are in the building.
Seriously.... I thought this so called Thune had a deadly disease a few years back and was on the verge of ....... leaving this mortal plane. Maybe I have this nobody confused with another useless GOPer.

ALL of Congress (with a handful of exceptions), of both parties, along with the permanent government employee class, are dead-set against a border wall. They’ve discovered just how easy it is to get rich from a cut of the cartel drug money and a cut of cheap labor payoffs from their corporate patrons.
The government in Washington D.C. is there for the sole purpose of making themselves very, very rich and secure. Nothing else. All the rest of us can go be their peasants.
This is how Trump should play politics. He should AGREE to not make 5 Billion for wall a requirement. But refuse to sign ANY bills with foreign aid. Have the Democrats shutdown the Gov’t over foreign Aid - UNLESS he gets 5 Billion for the wall as well.
I saw this report yesterday. In fairness Thune is in favor of allocating the money for the wall. He’s just not in favor of playing budget games of shuffling money around from other programs, like defense, to pay for it.
NO MORE MONEY TO DEFEND OTHERS UNTIL OUR BORDERS ARE PROTECTED.

Trump isn’t shutting down a thing. He won’t do it. Doesn’t have the political capital or spine.
Given the current makeup of the House starting in January, it means it can't happen under his rules. Typical politician speaking out both ends simultaneously.
They are not stupid.
They are complicit.
The GOP has been blocking border security for 30 years since we were promised it in 1986.
