In Trump’s defense, let’s be honest here. A Wisconsin voter (just to use an example) who votes for Donald Trump for President but then sends an @sshole like Paul Ryan to represent him in Congress is so disoriented politically that it’s impossible to get anything of substance done.
Yes, I think I’ve come off too hard on Trump. That is correct...it is also the nature of politics in America (disorientation).
I think it is absolutely true in this nation today that it is impossible to get anything of substance done, if it requires more than one branch - or even one person for that matter - to do it. Trump came to Washington as a revolutionary figure (as opposed to an establishment figure) and without a party or any kind of establishment political base of support. So he has to operate as a revolutionary figure because he cannot operate within the system. I’m not sure anyone can at this point in our nation’s history.
But, in truth, Trump is a builder and a manager, he makes deals, works hard and is extremely efficient. But that’s not Washington D.C. At all. Trump is not a revolutionary. Unfortunately, where we are in this nation requires a revolution...or we will simply descend, via incompetence or sloth, into full-on Marxism. That’s where we are headed, quickly. Trump was the right man, he’s here at the wrong time.
Couple that with the logic of a good portion of the country (remember we are divided almost 50/50 dem/rep) and you get what we have been getting for so long.
A good example of the liberal logic on the wall is something I heard at the hospital the other day while I was waiting for my wife to get prepped for surgery...
A lady reads a headline and exclaims to all within earshot “he wants 5 billion for the wall and he wants us to pay for it!” and then proceeds to say “I don’t even know how he got in anyway” (got elected).
Classic MN lib thought pattern - saying idiotic things like “and he expects us to pay for it” all the while ignoring the real costs of illegal immigration that are being footed by all Americans as is, which far outstrip the cost of building the wall and border enforcement if it was taken seriously.
Most people can’t think beyond one sentence uttered from their own stupid mouths, let alone have the capacity to break themselves free from the rigid thinking that has been sold to them as diversity, tolerance and kindness.
We will not get a wall, more and more illegals will be imported - aggressively so; and sooner rather than later we will have no semblance of sovereignty or ability to regain it.
I am a realist, not a defeatist. We have been and will continue to be played.
