WASHINGTON The US Navy has acknowledged that its longstanding operations in Haifa may change once a Chinese firm takes over the civilian port in 2021, prompting Israels national security cabinet to revisit the arrangement, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

Money makes for strange bedfellows. For instance, 90% of Israel’s oil comes from a port in Turkey. That’s not well known because of the repercussions from the Arab world.

Well... depending on your definitions of such terms.
Seems to me the first requirements for a big-shot port manager is they be honest, law abiding and loyal to the port's country.
After all, security interests at sea-ports, like air-ports or rail stations, would be near the top of my priorities.
And a port management company in which the Chinese government has a majority stake doesn't seem at first glance to meet such criteria.
This is the dumbest move of all time. Needs to be reversed asap.
( I don’t care that U.S. support for Israel weakens when Dems win the WH. The ChiComms are SCUM and their money isn’t worth it).

That’s too bad. Haifa was an unexpected surprise when we anchored there in 1989. Beautiful beaches.
