If I were of the mind set, it would be closed garage or meds. Selfish to make a mess with a gun for someone to clean up. Lucky for me, I’m not of that mind set. Like the Joe Walsh song, “Life’s been good to me so far.”.
After responding to suicides for 25 years... I can say unequivocally that it is the least imaginative and worst way to kill yourself. There are many other painless and more effective ways to do it. People often shoot themselves and do not die and leave themselves permanently disfigured or disabled, or they suffer horribly for extended periods before dying. And they typically leave a horrible mess for others to clean up.
What about “it’s my body, my choice”? Don’t suicidal people have a right to do to their bodies what they want?
Don’t think I’m insensitive. I used to be caring. I’ve gotten to a point where people who are suicidal should be allowed to kill themselves then they can’t procreate.
DOH! Propose that at the next city council meeting.
I learned that working in the prison. If someone wants to kill themselves, they will. Even if you strap them down, they will find a way.
Same with mass killers. Take their gun, they will use something else.
Can I used that as my tag line? That is spectacular.
Jumping off tall buildings or high bridges can be spur of the moment too.

By Commies, I refer to ALL TREASONOUS DEMOCRATS. Anything less is self delusion. Somehow, they figure that, now that they own academia and the media, they have their hooks deep enough into DC that they can achieve a complete overthrow.
You know the solution...
Democrats destroy our communities - flooding them with illegals then calling us names for objecting...
Now they want to take away our one sure way out? Eff ‘em...
[[ Let’s admit it. The Commies want our guns because they want our government, and them don’t want all those guns killing them when they go for it.]]
“Venezuelans regret gun ban, ‘a declaration of war against an unarmed population”
Guns would have served as a vital pillar to remaining a free people, or at least able to put up a fight, Javier Vanegas, 28, a Venezuelan teacher of English now exiled in Ecuador, told Fox News. The government security forces, at the beginning of this debacle, knew they had no real opposition to their force. Once things were this bad, it was a clear declaration of war against an unarmed population.

In Florida, if you don’t have a CCP you have 3 day waiting period for purchasing a handgun....
Yeah, as one whose earliest job in mental health, many years ago was working a suicide hotline, I wont bother with the rest of my credentials. Suffice it to say, I am not unfamiliar with suicidal people.
The gun grabbers are, as usual, full of crap. They are, once again, exploiting a terrible tragedy in the service of their own agenda, which is maximum control over us peasants.
Men and women tend to be different when it comes to suicide. Men are far more likely to look for a method with high lethality, eg guns, hangings.
Women are more likely to take pills. Depending on the underlying pathology, she may do some cutting.
At the core, women often have not-quite-conscious fantasies of being rescued. Unfortunately, miscalculations happen and women who didnt really want to die lose their lives. Kate Spade and Deborah Jean Palfrey (the DC madame) were unusual, women dont often hang themselves.
Men are also more impulsive about it. Installing a waiting period is offensive. It marginalizes and trivializes the very real suffering of someone who has lost all hope. Theyre trying to get all the brass polished on the Titanic. We lose 20 veterans a day this way. You may be disgusted to learn that the VA has tried to soft pedal that number. They claim it was improper to count the suicides of active duty military in with veterans, which is where the 22 number came from. Its actually a mere 16.8 veterans per day taking their own lives after serving their country. Feel better now?
The usual libtard claptrap goes: If we can save just one life . . . This from the same hypocrites who gave you abortion and Benghazi.
Their stupid plan wont work, as usual. A man committed to taking his own life can find a gun in many places. Its not hard.
Or a suicidal man can switch to hanging, or poison, or sucking carbon monoxide, or crashing their carsthere are plenty of options.
If only those imbecilic libs could devote a fraction of their energy to putting out useful information. Suicidal people often throw off signals that are very easily missed or misunderstood.
If you know someone who is having a rough time, watch for the usual, giving stuff away, tying up loose ends, that kind of thing.
Here is where it gets really tricky. If someone you know has been depressed and suddenly shows improvement, especially in therapy and/or on meds, be extremely concerned. Watch for the person seeming more calm and at peace.
That is often the final warning.
The meds or therapy have brought the sufferers energy up. He now has the ability to kill himself. Hes at peace, because the decision has been made. He found a way out.
And please, people, always take any suicide talk seriously, even if youre sure its manipulative. Just call 911. If its serious, the experts need to handle it. If its a bluff, a visit from the police and EMTs will go a long way toward discouraging that sort of behavior in the future.
Somebody I know saved $25 bucks on the background check due to having a ccw the other day. So, it appears that that someone will have to get at least 4 more firearms to recoup the cost of the ccw. ;-) Plus currently no wait in NV. But the political make up is about to change in January. And not for the better. I remember the 3 day waiting period from when we lived in FL but I had the permit so................
I agree. The determined person will either choose another method or wait out the waiting period.
I knew someone who shot himself, some years ago. It was a complete shock to everyone who knew him. Putting things together, later, it was obvious that he had been planning suicide for quite a long time. He would not have been deterred by a waiting period.
I don’t think that most people who commit suicide do so on impulse.
You’re so right. I’ve seen a couple of cases where the intended suicide only succeeded in blowing his face off. Whatever problems were there before are only compounded after.
Euthanasia good.
Suicide bad.
Suicide prevention has nothing to do with this push.
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. -- H. L. Mencken
