If I'm found negligent, and even if I'm not found negligent, you pay. Seems reasonable.

PG&E asked California regulators for a $1.1 billion rate hike Thursday, saying more than half the money would be spent on improving wildfire safety. I bet if we revisit this in a few years, we'll find very little of the money will be spent on the safety of California residents. Then again, THIN OUT THE DEADWOOD AND STOP BUILDING HOMES WITHIN THE FIRE ZONES!

May they get their ridiculous rate hike along with a tax on texting. The death spiral in California can't be fast enough.

What’s PG&E ? Another acronym tossed at FR’s without being deciphered at least once if not in body copy then in posters comments.

Sorry, Pacific Gas & Electric.

In addition to the 10-20 BILLION dollars in liability.
To be paid by rate payers, of course.

A internet search for PG&E gives the answer to your question. Just saying.

It angers me that federal funds (more federal funds) will be sent to Bankruptfornia to help with the fire damage after the elected officials ignored warnings of the mismanagement of forests for decades. This will happen again next year and the year after and so on until they get their heads out of the arses. Mother Nature is NOT a democrat.

Currently pg&e is charging an average of about 25 cents per kwh. This will only add to that.
I’m going solar.

Solar in California is looking more and more economical. Proabbly not. Solar works pretty well in the dry climate, but that's only going to save you from the energy charges. The billions of dollars that PG&E has to pay will be charged to all accounts independent of electricity usage. Also it is basically illegal to unhook from the grid to avoid those charges.

But theyre going to jack up the energy charges as well. It won’t be long their cost per kwh will be 30 cents. Solar makes sense at around 18 cents per kwh.

You can hardly blame pg&e. They are run by the California public utility commission, which is run by environazis.
