New York (CNN Business)The Weekly Standard, the magazine that espouses traditional conservatism and which has remained deeply critical of President Donald Trump, will shutter after 23 years, Clarity Media Group, the owner of its publisher announced Friday morning. It will publish its final issue on December 17.
The announcement came after the magazine's editor-in-chief, Stephen Hayes, met privately with Ryan McKibben, the chairman of The Weekly Standard's publisher, MediaDC.
"For more than twenty years The Weekly Standard has provided a valued and important perspective on political, literary and cultural issues of the day," McKibben said in a press release. "The magazine has been home to some of the industry's most dedicated and talented staff and I thank them for their hard work and contributions, not just to the publication, but the field of journalism."

GRIN
Yeah it is funny really. The Weekly Standard went from being Neo Cons a favorite liberal (and sometime conservative) pejorative to “traditional conservatives” just by opposing Trump because he wasn’t intent in pursuing endless war in the middle east. I will not miss the Weekly Standard.
To add insult to injury the RINO’s at ‘Weakly Standard’ go out of business with nice comments from CNN...
Can it get any worse?
Maybe Rachel Maddow and Jeff Flake can say nice things about them... LOL... THAT would be worse.
[It is said that what did in the Standard was not Bill Kristols neoconservative views, nor his anti-Trumpism, but rather, his gross incompetence managing the business. His departure as editor-in-chief in 2016 wasnt about partisan politics, or Trump. It was instigated by an internal coup to try to save a publication being utterly strangled by an idiot manager.]
Bingo!
An accountant boss of mine nearly forty years ago told me, non-profits are where the money is.
i USED to subscribe. what a shame Kristol has ruined a decent publication with his Trump hate.

Slate staff members voted to go on strike, and now The Weekly Standard is shutting down.
MAGA x 2.
The Weekly Standard never espoused traditional conservatism - they peddled warmed-over liberalism with some GOP partisan rhetoric thrown in. From the beginning, Kristol and his circle advocated internationalism and open borders.
Great news!!
Party time!
Bill makes me puke, so Im glad his sorry butt is left hurting. He lies and cant do anything else.
I keep getting NRO and WS mixed up. Which is the one run by Bill Kristol?
Bill Kristol is essentially the picture in the dictionary after “neoconservative”. That has to be 90% of the explanation why the WS was so anti-Trump.
Now NRO, hasn’t that magazine also been highly critical?
In which case, I'll head to my local 7-11 and buy my first edition of their rag on December 18th.
LOL...very good!
Have to admit, am having a difficult time with my grin after watching this unfold...Hee, hee.
We're bi, we're weak, we sit on standard toilets and please you.
We are OUT OF BUSINESS.
We still cannot believe that bastard Trump is President, he is too crude, stupid, lewd, bombastic and he grabs wymxn by the pussy.
It is not Presidential... and we are selling the furniture {cheap}.
