Google is very different now.

It’s become a fake search engine.

It used to be awesome.

Do you remember when google had page numbers at the top of each search, so you could hit page 12 and go to more obscure stuff, not have to wade through what they want $ you to find first? Now they force you to go through each page. Which shows you that is is not a real search engine; it’s a store that you have to wade through to get to what you wanted if you ever get there at all.

It’s more like democrat war rooms, media matters, etc that’s messing up searches...

Yeah, that's not getting enough attention. What should be reviewed is Search Engine Optimization, and how even a resolutely 'agnostic' algorithm can be steered when you learn how to push and pull it. I don't expect 1 in 10 pols grasp how this functions.

I immediately suspected this kind of steering even before the research on how manipulating instant search bar autofill selections negatively or positively would affect large swathes of people's perceptions. I think even Scott Adams blogged about it during the last election.

The Russia! Russia! Russia! story is really to detract from how successfully Trump's team leveraged online marketing. They don't want to ditch the machinery, they just want to make sure someone else doesn't co-opt it again.

He said if google takes them down within a week he won't; or at least he won't go totally nuclear.

Yet Google can remove or change content within seconds if it wants.

A few years ago, I was trying to access the Fijian government website. The website description in the search results was an advertisement for male enhancement products, although the site itself was normal. I complained to Google. As soon as I sent the complaint email and refreshed the search results, the website description was repaired. It took less than a minute.

So if Google is dragging its feet here, it is not because they can't fix the problem.

>>how successfully Trump’s team leveraged online marketing

This interview with Trump’s digital media guy is must-see material. Very informative and he calmly eats the nasty PBS interviewer alive.

I switched to bing and duck a couple of years ago. On my work computer, duck is blocked, so I use Bing.

I can’t remember what they used but AltaVista didn’t own the altavista.com domain name, one of few mistakes that eventually killed them.

Try Bing..see if their searches are fair. I use Bing and resort to google a few times a week for something difficult.

The folks that are trying to shut down anything they disagree with need to remember that if you make peaceful protest impossible you make violent revolution inevitable.

Hillary's stock market event - turning a thousand dollars into a $100,000 in six months is a perfect example. Google it and all the top slots are excuses, rationalizations or stories that would be confusing to someone ‘not familiar’ with what happened.

At least with the CIA’s successful disinformation campaigns they have a room where they keep the actual truth.
