The topic of white nationalists was handled in a heavy-handed way during the December 9 episode of Foxs Rel. Rel (Lil Rel Howery), an African-American man, is a charge nurse in a Chicago hospital. In Hate & Hip Hop, his patient turns out to be a racist who fainted during a white nationalist protest rally. The white patient isnt impressed when Rel calls him a blood brother, as they both have O negative blood.
Rel explains to Tommy Smith (Josh Duvendeck) that only 7 percent of the population have O negative blood. Rel at first assumes that Tommy was at the protest rally to stand up to the white nationalists. When Rel learns that his patient was a participant in the protest to take back America for white people, Rel asks him just how alt-right he is attending his khaki-wearing, tiki torch-carrying protest.

NON print with video:
I caught a brief bit of this episode while my smart tv was flaking out loading Netflix.
It truly made my stomach turn. 3 very clean, well-dressed, and well-spoken black people (you know, just like most are in real life) talking about an over-the-top racist white person (also, just like real life). Woman telling the guys how she “learned to channel her hatred into productive uses”.
It was blatantly racist, in prime time.
Was the ‘white guy’ character actually made completely of straw?
Ethnonationalism is wrong. Its also wrong to shine the spotlight only on white nationalists as opposed to black nationalists like BLM or LaRaza.
Ever notice there is a Alt-Right, but no Alt-Left?................
Embarrassed to admit it, but I actually saw this. There was a dirty transition from Family Guy to this absurd REL thing and it was in the first minute.
Randomly flipping channels I think I landed on that scene. I gave it until the white patient expressed his concerns about the “minority caravan” coming and taking all the jobs.” His black doctor replied, “Let me bring yiu up to speed...you HAD all the jobs” to laughs and cheers from the studio audience.
Never watched any of those Chicago titled programs. Guess I haven’t missed much.
Sometimes, when I'm reading an article, I wonder if I forgot how to read English. There are words in patterns that don't even make sense to me.
They allow black people on Fox News?
Cable has been gone for a while and the few things/apps on the stick don’t get this. Actually they don’t get much. Which is fine with me.
And what the hell is wrong with wearing khakis? Is this racist because a lot of whites wear khakis? These are questions have to ask themselves. Am I being stereotyped? Am I being marginalized? Actually a great deal can be borrowed from the civil rights movement to curtain the unfair oppression of whites that dont want to limit anyones opportunity and what an opportunity for a good life like everyone else.
Hmm. Well, as I recall, the droopy/saggy/baggy pants thing is an availability signal for your prison boy friend so........ I’ll stick to khakis.
My favorite was the movie American History X, about a white supremist:
He ends up sent to prison for some crime that has some connection to matters of race, and in prison he must daily navigate the dangers of butt rape by WHITE inmates, just cuz.
But he gets saved by BLACK inmates, cuz they don’t stand for that, especially when it threatens white supremists, who black inmates care about.
Just like in REAL LIFE.
That was almost like Liam Neeson’s “Non-Stop” a movie about a flight threatened by retired right-wing Marines angry about cuts to their health care. While most passengers are unhelpful and cold, Neeson is helped at every juncture by an onboard Imam clad in flowing robes and skullcap. A would-be caricature of Ghandi, the Imam oozes empathy and helpfulness from every pore.
KILLS YOUR TV AND NEVER SEE MOVIES.
“Ethnonationalism is wrong.”
In all instances?
I thought Rel was already cancelled. Not even the previews are funny.
“Rel: Okay, whoa, whoa. Okay, bro. You-you...you talking about jobs? For real? First of all, y’all always had the jobs. Okay? And second of all, dude, if you stop going to all these meetings and rallies and just maybe go to a job fair or... ...or take some classes or send a résumé...”
Taking classes and sending out a résumé usually helps in getting a job.
I gave neeson up a long time ago. Useless waste of oxygen.
If you wear khakis its racist.
If you wear “baggies” its cultural appropriation.
If you take this crap serious you are appropriating from mental patients.
