Thousands of brides are being burned alive in India despite the practice being illegal, a Christian ministry has warned.
India Partners, a Christian organization that works alonside indigenous Christian grassroots agencies in India, told Mission Network News on Thursday that there are still as many as 8,000 bride burning cases a year in the Hindu-majority country.
A representative with India Partners, identified only as John, said the low view of women is spread through parts of India's society.
This is true both of men and women. Its not just of men itself. Most women see the other woman as in an inferior position and not able to recognize her rights as a human being," he said.
The burning attacks, some of which have resulted in deaths, are tied to dowry and marriage disputes in rural districts.
Women in India continue to suffer from a widespread rape epidemic, with many stories of extreme violence, sexual assaults, and murder making international news.
Dalits, members of the so-called "untouchables" lowest caste class in India, are also subject to discrimination, especially those who choose to convert to Christianity.

Dont connect yoga with satanism. Thats just lame.
Yoga is idolatry, idol worship. If that’s not a form of satanism, I’d like to know what is.
Well because it’s pretty easy to see the mega mites throughout the population of India. Burning brides is just one of a gazillion evidences they display.
Yes indeed.
Am familiar with that video....good stuff.
I had a friend who worked for an Indian couple in business.....she lasted less than 4 weeks. Said they were horrible to work for....keeping in mind my friend has outstanding references.
I’m sure there are many true Christians who do the same. Because true Christians still make mistakes and commit sins. As humans, we can’t completely be without sin. Having said that, any true Christian is seeking the Lord. And, dealing with us as individuals, He will continue to move us in the direction of walking blamelessly. It’s a process. That’s why Jesus told us not to judge, because we can’t see the splinter in our brother’s eye, for the log in our own. I trust God to look on the heart. He knows every hair on our heads, and he knows what process it will take for us to see the truth. Otherwise, we’d all be blasted into quarks for our dull-heartedness, long before now. His mercy endures forever.
It’s not the fact that it happens to such a small percentage, it’s that it happens at all! To say the percentage doesn’t matter, is like a pedophile brother saying of his 70 year old sister, “ I only raped her on one day, out of the 25,550 days of her life! (0.000443%)
I marvel at the wisdom God has given to some, and pray that I could have even a portion of it.
I understand that. But the object lesson remains, That all Christians are on the same road, but while we don’t all trip over the same stones, we all trip.
All I know is heated bikram yoga has done good things for my body, I feel and look better, and the most sinister thing the teachers say is breathe and calm your mind. That's it.
I can live with that.
Being burned alive is not trivial.
I'm sure your acquaintance or whatever, would not volunteer for the job or would not think it was trivial if it were HIM being burned.
It goes to show how little they value life if they consider it trivial.
Here’s a bit of history so I see no affiliation with any occult influence....at least that I could see....
Pilates exercises, originally developed ‘by the fitness trainer’ Joseph Pilates....
created in the 1920s by the physical trainer Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) for the purpose of rehabilitation. Some of the first people treated by Pilates were soldiers returning from war and dancers such as Martha Graham and George Balanchine (to strengthen their bodies and heal their aches and pains).
Well if she’s asking you in any way to ‘empty your mind’ you’re in the wrong place. What does she mean by “calming the mind”......and ‘Why is she teaches certain yoga ‘breathing’ techniques....are questions you could ask.....her answers would reveal much.
What they mean is stay in the moment. Focus on your poses and getting your alignment right for the pose. Don’t let outer thoughts or worries creep in during your practice. The breathing is just to stay oxygenated because some people tend to hold their breath or do shallow breathing when struggling with the poses.
I thought you were asking what those things meant.
