President Donald Trump has offered State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert the job of U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, an administration official told DailyMail.com on Thursday.
Fox News Channel and ABC News reeporters first broke the news. It’s unclear whether Nauert has accepted the role, which would thrust her onto the world stage in place of outgoing ambassador Nikki Haley – a Trump favorite.
Nauert took over State Department spokeswoman duties in April 2017 after years at ABC News and a stint as an anchor at Fox News.
Her current title is acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, a slot she assumed after Trump fired his first secretary of state, Rex Tillerson.
Nauert’s deputy, Robert Palladino, was also asked at a news briefing whether she had been offered the job and said any announcement would be the prerogative of the White House.
Haley will leave her post at the end of the year. Nauert will require Senate confirmation to succeed her.
Unlike Haley, she has no practical policy-making or political experience.
Trump met with her Monday in the Oval Office, according to the official.

He chose her because she’s hot. No other reason.
I guess Trump is giving the UN the intellectual capital that it is due.
Yuck. After she publicly dissed and demeaned Dr. Sebastian Gorka during one of her press conferences, she is dog poop in my book.
There was such openly displayed disrespect, such derision in her voice, choice of words, and demeanor. It turns my stomach just to look at her, so I don’t.
It’s sad to see her get rewarded for her snark and disrespect.

Here’s a thought.
Maybe Trump is throwing a bone to all the suburban women who voted against him because they view Trump as an uncouth meanie. The position is a worthless position anyway, so its okay to waste it on a bimbo.
Well I thought Nikki Haley was a bad choice, and I was wrong. So I will reserve judgement on Heather until I see her in action.
