President Trump has nominated a "brilliant man" to replace Jeff Sessions as attorney general, the president said outside the White House Friday. He has tapped William Barr, former attorney general for the late President George H. W. Bush, for the position.

Trump said he "did not know" Barr until recently, but found him to be respected by lawmakers from both partIes. He predicted the process will go "very quickly."
However, Democrats have hinted that they will make the nomination process a nightmare for Barr, considering his past criticisms about special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. He has also reportedly suggested that Hillary Clinton's role in the Uranium One scandal was more worthy of investigation than Russian collusion.
The Mueller probe has been an Achilles heel for the office of attorney general the past couple of years. When Jeff Sessions felt pressured to recuse himself from the investigation because Democrats didn't like an answer he gave during a congressional hearing, Trump never let him forget it, calling him "weak" and "beleaguered."
Trump will Never build a Wall, but boy is he good for CAVING to the Deep State.
America, we hardly knew ye.
A complete morale-crusher for the base. Harriet Miers 2.0
Keep your day job, your attempts at humor aren’t working.
Well this is disappointing. Bet Trump only found out about him in the last week reading about George HW Bush.
The Dems have shown they are obstructionist hacks. Trump would be in the right to make recess appointments of all offices possible.

Part of me wishes we could vote for new conservatives, because this group of idiots we keep getting on FR are really wearing thin.

The “base” were screaming for Sessions, because of his southern twang, something about church, and Alabama must be full of tough on crime folks.
They got Sessions and he didnt do anything.
So I’m going to see what this guy does, because people recommending someone based on their feels or tropes got us two years of nothing.
Barr has made some strong comments about Mueller’s investigation going off the rails, and also that the Clinton Foundation and Uranium One need to be investigated by the Justice Department. I like that.
The heart of the king is in the hands of God.
This applies to your post 10 as well. Two good posts.
Did he recuse himself yet?
The Ds rather it be Whitaker? When the next D is elected Pres I want the Republicans to deny him any person he nominates.
> The base were screaming for Sessions
No they weren’t. I sure as hell wasn’t. What is the basis for this claim?
This is another walk away moment for Trump. He is a one hit wonder. This loses for him. No one will be prosecuted, except the innocent. Everything will be swept under the carpet.
It is time to start making some ride the lightning.
How is he caving ?
