If the Dems want to lose in 2020, Beto O’Rourke is the perfect candidate
NY Post ^ | Dec. 6, 2018 | Maureen Callahan

Beto O’Rourke, with widespread backing, is considering running for president in 2020. If Democrats want to lose, he absolutely should. Nothing has been learned from Hillary Clinton, the two-time heiress apparent who, in 2016, had the support of nearly every mainstream media outlet, who entered the final stretch of her last race with a $449 million war chest (compared with Trump’s $163 million), who led in nearly every national poll, and who was roundly depicted as the rational adult tolerating a villainous bozo. Just as Hillary has taken that humiliating defeat as a sign to mull yet a third run,

I wouldn’t bet on that... many thought the same of Obama when the dems started rumbling in ‘07 about his running.

Actually I look at their massive field and don’t see a winner in the bunch.

I don’t think the Dems will ever nominate an old white man ever again.

If he’s smart he’ll run for the Senate again in 2020. He could win this time, especially if the seat is open. But I suspect he does believe all the hype and will run for President and lose.

And yet one member of that field will be the nominee and will start with a base of around 220 EVs.

Yep, “It’s the Candidates, stupid”

But also realize, one of the goals of the Left is to create an environment where good people don’t even want to get involved.

Look what they tried to do to Kavanaugh, that’s what they have in store for anyone who dares to go up against them.

If you have a successful life in the private sector, why put yourself through that?

They seem to be going for a candidate that will appeal to the yokels in Flyover without alienating the base on the coasts. Thus they cast a hard leftist nicknamed “Beto” (for the base) with what they perceive to be unoffensive skin tone and boyish charm (for the yokels).

The MSM has caused us to loose critical States like WI, PA and possibly AZ

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there.

PA has NEVER been onboard with mainstream GOP economics (free market or Chicago school or trickle down....whatever you wish to call it). PA was willing to support Trump precisely because he represented a break from that.

Many people here have been intrinsically programmed to vote Democrat through literally decades of propaganda pumped out by labor unions. They only veer from that if the Dem candidate is too radical. Thus the Dems continue to fool them with white, clean-cut, relatively unthreatening candidates like Conor Lamb.

For that reason Pat Toomey remains very, VERY vulnerable should the Dems ever manage to nominate someone who isn't a fringe criminal screaming lunatic.

The GOP's biggest problem is that they run sh*tty candidates.

People today might go for Beto as Americans today are a fickle bunch..and if the economy tanks due to the Deep State crashing it we could see the Socialist sweep into power..They are more concerned with Dancing with the Stars than the Constitution..

Right. But people dismissed Obama early on too. You know Beto would have a black woman VP on his ticket.

I started to comment that O’Rourke’s advantage was being a blank slate upon which the ignorant could project their wish list. After looking him up on Wikipedia, I see that I would have been wrong. His life is a progressive’s dream, with all the baggage trail — degree from Columbia in English Lit; member of various unsuccessful punk bands; job out of college = live-in nanny; renovated a loft in Brooklyn; internet startup; dwi; married daughter of a rich developer; government jobs with no accomplishments; pro-dope; anti-2nd A; anti-Israel. Zero real executive experience. What could go wrong?

Only because 47% of this country would vote for a convicted felon, a German shepherd, or a statue of Alexander the Great if it had a “D” next to its name.

Let him run. His ego is bigger than his brain. Alexandra can be his running mate.

Beto would handily defeat Cornyn in 2020, who might decide to “retire” if Beto runs again for the Senate. People in TX believe in Beto for many reasons, including immigrants from CA and NY.

If the GOP had run a Senate Candidate in CA who came as close to winning as Beto did in TX, it would have shaken CA to its foundations.

The only way that would happen now is if Cali split into at least two entities. As it is now, that state is lost.

My choice is Stacy AbramsShe owes $200,000 in personal debt showing that she has the Democrat approach to budgeting down pat. She has introduced gun confiscation legislation in the Ga general assembly showing she understands Americans' hatred of the right to keep and bear arms and their loathing of being able to defend themselves (or at least she has the NY, NJ, MA, MD, IL and CA attitudes understood.) She wants to make GA a sanctuary state where illegal invaders can do as they please and sign up for welfare immediately (at the expense of the those of us who actually work for a living) as long as they vote Democrat (and of course she wants everyone to vote regardless of whether or not they're here legally or not.)

She blames her loss on racism, voter suppression (a mythical concept taught in black studies programs) male chauvinism etc. She wants to raise taxes on the "rich" i.e. anyone who actually works for a living. Like all Democrats who lose she NEVER considers the concept that the ideas she was selling are not what people want.

In short she's very much like 0bama except she's nowhere near as honest as 0bama, lacks his respect for the constitution and dedication to limited government, his firm commitment to the Bill of Rights, his fiscal responsibility, his skepticism of the global warming hoax, and his admiration of the qualities that make America great.

The woman is a total a$$hole without a single redeeming quality and would have been a first magnitude disaster for Georgia if she had managed to steal the election. What's frightening is how close she came to winning (not counting the phony ballots that were created by corrupt black Democrat election officials in DeKalb and Fulton counties.) Part of the problem is that GA is 30% black, and according to one exit poll I read 98% of them voted for her. Apparently GA's blacks are still firmly on the Democrat plantation and are happy to be there. So that's 30% of the vote right there.

Then there are the yankee immigrants who (unfortunately) are legal who destroyed the economies of their home state by voting Democrat and then moved here ad immediately started doing the same thing because they're too stupid and arrogant to realize they brought their own doom upon themselves. I'm not a native Georgian, but I never voted Democrat in my life (my parents would split the ticket until they died, but now they vote straight Democrat)

So between the racist Blacks (98% of them) and the idiot white liberals Georgia almost got a steaming pile of manure as a governor.

She's a loser like O'Rourke, but she lost a larger election so she's my pick for Democrat presidential candidate 2020.

You do not seem to understand anything at all about Texas.
Robert Francis didn’t do well here because of anything positive about himself.

When a mob of violent lefists attacked voters attending Trump’s Chicago rally in 2016, Ted Cruz claimed that the fault lay with the voters and Donald Trump.

This isn’t California. That doesn’t fly in Texas, and medium and long term the Republicans will have to find another candidate if they wish to retain the seat.
