TRENTON A top official in the administration of Gov. Philip D. Murphy described in wrenching testimony on Tuesday the lack of urgency among aides to the governor after she accused a member of Mr. Murphys campaign of sexual assault.
The emotional narrative marked the first day of legislative hearings into how Mr. Murphys administration has handled a case that threatens to thwart his ambitious agenda and cast a stain over his progressive image.
The official, Katie Brennan, spoke slowly and sternly as she detailed her allegations against Albert J. Alvarez, whom she accused of sexually assaulting her after a campaign event last year, and described how the administration ignored her repeated pleas and continued to employ Mr. Alvarez as a top administration official .
I had access to people in the highest positions of power in the state of New Jersey, and at each turn, my pleas for help went unanswered, Ms. Brennan said in her opening statement.
Somehow, it wasnt a priority to address my sexual assault, she continued, until it impacted them.

This was on the front pages of all the local papers including the Philly ones yesterday. Didn't see anything posted about it here.
Murphy is already at war with the legislature, dominated by his own party, because he's a dictator and they don't like being told what they have to do so they are doing nothing. Now this.
The man appears to be continuing the proud NJ tradition of Democrats getting elected to Governor and being so horrible that they're tossed after one term.
Your last sentence answered my first question:
Democrat or Republican? I should know by now, were these Republicans, that would have been screamed in the first five words, and repeated throughout the article.
My sympathies for the young lady.
The assault, if it happened was bad enough, now she deals with disillusionment as well. She sees people she thought worthy of respect, more than ready to throw her under the bus of inconvenient truth.
When will the media call this ‘RapeGate’? Because that is what this really is, a political scandal.
Phil Murphy’s RapeGate scandal
Nope, won’t see those words used by the media
But BridgeGate was plastered everywhere for years. And it had nothing to do with a bridge.
There are too few people left in NJ who even care. It was frightening to see this creep win after publicly stating he would raise taxes - in one of the highest-taxed, dying states in the US. It revealed that there were far more VOTERS (not just “people”) on the gravy train than pulling it, and is hastening our death spiral.
Because this dope worked for Murphy’s campaign, I don’t care what happened to her (if it even did); I’ve decided the Hispanic status of the alleged perp trumps the female status of the victim. She’s a racist for complaining, and should respect his macho Hispanic culture...
You’re a bigger and better person than me; I try to imagine her sympathy for Brett Kavanaugh, and come up with nothing.
Pretty foul and she’s learning a shockingly harsh lesson about the regressives.
Gov Murphy's reaction seems a lot like someone with a guilty conscience might react.
Makes you wonder if Alvarez shared his sexcapade to give Murphy a vicarious thrill.
Priapic types like Alvarez love to brag about their sexual conquests.
Did the governor and the attacker enjoy a laugh at her expense?
Alvarez needs the Kavanaugh treatment. Start investigating every aspect of his past. Subpoena his texts, emails and phone calls. I bet Corey Booker knew something too.
Democrats, of course.
Full speed ahead......
