Libertarian TV personality and former ABC reporter John Stossel says Youtube placed age restrictions on a video he published about socialism. The restrictions were later removed, but the fact they occurred is part of a trend that concerns conservatives and free speech advocates.
Stossel wrote at Townhall on Dec. 5, that Google informed that morning via email that it wouldnt allow his "Socialism Leads to Violence" video to be viewed by young people. In his column, Stossel wondered whether this video restriction was the case of oversensitive algorithms or of big tech bias.
Both are possible. His video, hosted by Gloria Alvarez includes footage of devastation after a rocket hits a city, as well as footage featuring riots, starving Venezuelans eating garbage, and a sprinkling of profanity.
So it is possible an overzealous algorithm might have flagged this video. But there is a generally a distinction, between graphic violence or disturbing imagery shown for its own sake versus showing historical violence as a necessary tool in education and Stossel clearly intended to educate about the effects of socialism.
However, it is also possible the content was censored due to its political views.

NON PRINT:
p.s. And asking age prior to allowing access has ALWAYS worked. Right?
We are being dictated to by a tech oligarchy that is hell bent on implementing socialism - Apple, Google (YouTube), Verizon, salesforce and other tech oligarchs are colluding to allow only leftist forms of communication and NWO thought.
Its time to bring them down.
I can’t figure out why this video supposedly only has 22,000 views:
Me Is Mine, You Is Yours

We are not there yet. But watch this video and see where we could go....

The New Puritans.
If we don’t bring them down then someday the joke will be on them when the Bolsheviks loot and pillage their wealth.
I think Alphabet (Google/YouTube), Facebook, Twitter and Verizon (Yahoo!) better be really careful before the FTC and SEC hammers them for violating US securities laws for their heavy-handed censorship. Remember, all these companies have stock traded on NASDAQ and NYSE....
Teddy Roosevelt went about Trust Busting yuge banks and railroads:
This is PRIME material for Trump to be our New Teddy Roosevelt.
Trump should bust ‘em up, the InfoCartelistas.
So we just need to watch it)
To the uninformed mind, socialism sounds so GOOD. It sounds MORAL! Doing going good things for a lot of people... what’s wrong with that. These tech firms who claim to have socialist sympathies probably never had any of their employees ever read a history book about the evils of socialism. Why read a history book when you should spend your time reading math and science so that you can be competitive! So the tech people are ignorant or gullible children that think their hand at socialism will work out well because they are so smart. It’s naivete or arrogance.
Its naivete, arrogance, ignorance, laziness, egotism, narcissism and false self-esteem.
All the traits of an adolescent, in grownup bodies. Adult children.
I am convinced that this country is going to head down the Socialist path.
Mainly because Winston Churchill was right. You can count on the American people to do the right thing, AFTER they have exhausted all of the alternatives.
Until we try and it FAILS it seems most of our countrymen will remain unconvinced.
For those of you interested in seeing the various layers of censorship google/youtube employs to censor speech they don't like.

People who want to post it need to use a link disguiser like "https://tinyurl.com/"
If you change the link to one they haven't yet banned, they have to play catchup to ban the new link. When they do, just post it again with another created link.
Amen.
Yes. We all might want to see what Rush Limbaugh has to say about Apple CEO, Mr. Cook, today on his program. My understanding that Rush who has been a long time fan of Apple is not happy about the push to limit free speech via Apple products. Will you buy Apple, America. I won’t anymore.
