The white evangelical lie about Democrats (Upchuck alert)
Forward Kentucky ^ | 12/5/2018 | Berry Craig

. . . .
“Trump represents everything they should be against,” said Bolin, who has switched from Southern Baptist to Episcopalian. He meant the fact that the president is a double-divorcee with a penchant for prevaricating, talking dirty and, apparently, adultery.

Trump’s a Presbyterian. Presbyterians aren’t big on churchgoing; I know, I grew up one of the “Frozen Chosen.” It seems Trump seldom warms a pew. He evidently prefers Sunday golf to Sunday worship.

Yet the president’s worldly pursuits on the sabbath also don’t seem to trouble the souls in his evangelical flock. Never mind that most of them are in church, Bible at the ready, just about every time the doors open.

Over the last month, I've read dozens of editorials like this in small online town papers across the country. The theme is that you can't be a good Christian and support Trump. Couched in political terms, it's really just a hit piece against Christians.

Whenever Democrats get religion it’s only to push their political agenda.

Trump was a known quantity.

But he’s also the most pro life POTUS in a long time. And further considering who the DNC is that they hate him so alone means he can’t be all bad.

Afterall, if they loved him he could be a Screwy Louie or Bill Ayers.

I love it when people with no morals complain about people with morals on what morals should guide them.

If he threw ‘rape and murder’ in there, he could’ve pegged the Kennedys and ragged on Catholics too.

And they say there is no such thing as the religious left

A sinner who apparently has repented (in good company). King David comes to mind.

The big difference, and what liberals can’t understand, while many conservatives live a less than saintly life, they don’t aspire to it and celebrate it as normal.

Liberals embrace evil and try to sell it as a valid lifestyle choice.

President Trump has done more of God’s work than most churches. Like the old saying. Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Churches, schools, and governments have all been horribly infiltrated by those who want to destroy them.

The bible never says exactly who to vote for in a political election. I know some Christians who refuse to vote. But it does say not to have a female pastors or gay pastors. It also says not to allow gays in church.

So thanks anyway Presbyterians.

Episcopalians aren’t even Christians. They’ve totally rejected the Bible and worship a New Spirit who is basically about spreading homosexuality and perversion.

So let’s look at the alternative. Hillary is virulently anti-Christian (despite her little staged coffee shop encounter with a black political activist masquerading as a black pastor, where she purports to show her knowledge of Scripture). Her party at this point wants to put Christians in camps. They specifically rejected God from their national platform in 2012, on national public TV, by rebuking Him 3 times in a voice vote. Hillary made a speech to an international women’s conference that people (read Christians) have to be forced to accept abortion and homosexuality. She called Christians homophobes and “deplorable.”

Is that who Christians were supposed to vote for?

Oh, and let’s not forget that in Pence Trump has a committed Christian as Vice President backing him up.

My retort...they haven’t pulled it yet.

“Hello Berry;
Other than the elitist snarkisms at the end as to how your version of Christianity is God’s own and therefore any deviation from it plays directly in concert with Satan, it is a good article.

To paraphrase but keeping the underlying tone…you ask, “Why do those stupid, shoeless, toothless, gun toting, self deluding Evangelicals and SoBaps support Trump who is, well…so dog gone “un” evangelical and un SoBap?”

The answer is simple if you ask one of them…..like me. Though in fairness I am a Calvinist Congregationalist….you know all that Knoxian Coventanteer Scots Enlightenment and Reformation nonsense that go so far beyond “Baby Jesus loves me this I know….”

Trump fights for a lot of what they believe in, Berry.

Not all of it, such as Trump being light on the outbreak of Sodomititis…but still a lot of the other stuff Trump executes on. Illegal immigration; Israel; over regulation; break down in equal justice; the continued hollowing out of America’s heartland with predatory economic policies; elevating Wall Street over Main Street; old school patriotism; Islam over Christ; putting Christian faith back in the public square; paying due tribute to America as a Christian nation…..read the Declaration, Berry….God is in it 5 times….think back to your VBS and the story about the Temple shroud wrent at Jesus’s death…no more need for priests, kings, or other intermediaries….all men equal and endowed by their Creator…all that Nature’s Law (diserned/reasoned) and laws of Nature’s God (revealed), etc.

But I digress. Or do I?

Trump certainly supports a lot more than the alternatives offered by the Dems last time around. Even subbing out the chest congested, wobbly legged old hippo hips for another Obama, Gore, Kerry, Bernie, or Slick Willy wouldn’t cut it. Trump fights for them Berry. The Dems are giddily water blasting the very foundation the Evangels stand on like a crew of gold crazed hydraulic miners.

Why should you be surprised by that?”

Wow, this ticks me off! The mainline Presbyterian church is Presbyterian and a church in name only. There are no truly Reformed left there. Those of us who are proudly part of the Frozen Chosen are in other denominations.

The Democrats announced strategy is to split Trump from his Christian/evangelical support. These made to order op Ed’s are one tool they use. I don’t pay much attention myself to op eds anyway but I would bet these all have very similar talking points included.

“No, I’m not a Christian, and I have nothing but contempt for your backward religious beliefs. So, yeah, this argument wouldn’t work on me, but, maybe if I use it you, you’ll do what I want.”

From one of the best memes of all time.

If evangelicals has elected Trump as a church pastor or head of Focus on the Family (though less a ministry than under Dobson) then they would have a case.

Or if evangelicals elected Trump over a Reagan, or if he was a supporter of foundation immorality which was being foisted upon them, and attacking and punishing them for opposing it, and a friend of those who denigrate them as homophobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic, misogynist hatters who will not submit to the politically correct censoring of the “Left,” and which works to seduce votes with the demonic victim-entitlement mentality in promoting a welfare state which increases reliance upon a ever-growing regulatory government - meaning if Trump was a a Hillary - then they would have a case.

But instead they elected a man to a office of civil government who more than any other electable candidate overall supports their side in most basic moral issues and conception of government, and refuses to be cowed by the conniving tactics of intimidation of anti-Christ social and socialist revolutionaries.

In other words, they are willing to overlook the moral failures (real or alleged) and unChristian aspects of the temperament and character of the civil leader of the country that they are pilgrims in, since he is the best (if brash) captain available - along with a Chief officer of notable integrity - to sail the ship on a corrective course, a ship which has already been sabotaged by enemies and who chart a course toward shipwreck. In the light of all of this Trump is an answered prayer, and yet who needs our prayers.
