Cortez says she paid twice as much for insurance as a waitress as she will in Congress

**SNIP**

Over the weekend, the Congresswoman-elect said that the health insurance she will receive as a member of Congress will cost significantly less than the health insurance she paid for as a waitress. "In my on-boarding to Congress, I get to pick my insurance plan," the 29-year-old tweeted. "As a waitress, I had to pay more than TWICE what I'd pay as a member of Congress."

Members of Congress and their staff choose a gold-level healthcare plan through the open marketplace. According to Snopes, Congress members pay approximately 28 percent of their annual healthcare premiums through pre-tax payroll deductions and receive federal subsidies that cover 72 percent of the cost of premiums.

They also get special "free or low-cost" healthcare benefits not offered through healthcare plans on the open market. Snopes reports that members of Congress can pay an unspecified annual fee in order to receive treatment from the Office of the Attending Physician for routine examinations, consultations and certain diagnostic tests. Additionally, members can get free medical outpatient care at military facilities in the D.C. area.

Uh, oh. She doesn't know that she's now exempt from Husseincare. That's adorable.

I remain astounded that she can put a semi-coherent sentence together.

The political elites always live far better than the serfs. The key to an easy life is be a political elite. Our little girl is finally growing into her teeth.

So, will she demand the congressional benefits be ended and become no different than the proletariat? Or, like supporting Pelosi, will she quickly flip?

Too bad she’s in a hopelessly leftist district—or else she might actually grow in her political perspective as she becomes less ignorant about policy.

She’ll be a multi-millionaire pretty soon. Wonder what that will do to change her song?

She’ll begin to love the taxpayer funded goodies she gets as a member of Congress. All of her socialist rantings will just be for the idiot Democrat voters while she enjoys being a Swamp Dweller!

Welcome to the work world. You get a higher paying job, part of that is subsidized benefits. Something everyone should aspire to, regardless of where you are today.

Employers like where she worked have a major incentive NOT to provide insurance....the government.

What a bimbo. Are the American people going to have daily updates on what this beaver toothed beaver is going to say? I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I guess it is laugh at her and cry for America given our great nation now elects such trash to important roles within government.

Yup. Congress has a pretty sweet benefits package. And you get access to it for life after 6 years in.
