Musk is someone who wants to change the world, and he’s not like an average person, for good and bad. Trying to label him would be very inaccurate. If you want to get an idea of who he really is, there’s a biography available at your library.
He looks for whatever advantage he can get including government subsidies. For instance, he hires a lot of veterans and he gets subsidies for them.
If you don’t like the subsidies you should direct your hatred toward the politicians who created them. Musk is just playing by the rules of the game and he’s playing to win. Trump did the same when he was in business.

I’ve lived in China and Russia. Their capitalists are the same. Their riches come from robbing tax-payers through government policy, rent-seeking and favored regulations. Of course, when government controls everything, there is hardly any other way.
Entrepreneurs can make millions, but it takes a deep knowledge of how to work the system to make billions. Existing billionaires don’t want new rivals - unless you can bring something to the table that helps the whole caste stay on top.

NASA got out of the space program. They pay others to do it (and own it) for them these days.
He’s a Cronigarch - Crony and Oligarch - a leach on the taxpayers of this country. Would his luxury cars have gotten any traction without subsidies? It would have sold as well as the Volt because this country is too large for vehicles that have such a short range, especially in the Western part of the country. These cars can’t be re-charged quickly enough to be practical. If they were practical then there would be a market but since they’re not they’re part of the Al “Manbearpig” Gore climate change conspiracy.
