Why are more Americans than ever dying from drug overdoses?

The growing drugs crisis sweeping across the US is deadlier than gun violence, car crashes or Aids, none of which have killed as many Americans in a single year as overdoses did in 2017.

Newly confirmed figures released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show the increasing scale of the crisis.

The drugs epidemic is not confined to a small number of states nor to lower-income areas, but instead has spread across the whole country. While there are concentrations around the midwest, and regional differences in the type of substance, overdose deaths are happening everywhere.

The US medical sector ranks second in the world for opioid use

Because we now have a society where when you don’t like the way you feel YOU TAKE SOMETHING.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kids start doing some weed. After all it is just a harmless little plant and getting high feels good. And then you want a better high so you try something else. And some people, many people, can’t let go so it grows and grows until meth and heroin are your friends until you die.
It’s not rocket surgery.
Correct! My ear hurts...here’s a pill. My leg bounces...take a pill. I’m worried...take a pill. I recently went to a doctor for my knee. They asked “prescriptions?” ...as they settled down to write the list. I said “none”. They looked to be in shock.
Tucker had a guess on last night. Stuff is coming in from China. Politicians are owned by the diners and won’t talk about it.
Opioid crisis is killing off whites. Hundreds of millions of pills sent to one county in West Virginia. It’s white genocide. That’s why we aren’t stopping it. Leftists are killing off Trump voters.
“Now the all knowing, all seeing, all powerful gubbamint declares a national emergency opiod crisis, then cut availability to folks like my F-n-law and dad who suffer from chronic pain.”
‘Tis true. There is a nationwide network that tracks legitimate painkiller prescriptions that pharmacies are tied into. After a certain point as determined by some filthy bureaucrat you get red flagged. My youngest son has had chronic, painful dental problems but nevertheless his dentist got a warning letter from the government about over prescribing so he had to cut off my son.
“Now they’re determined that Fentanyl is a gateway drug to marijuana.”
Just like beer is a gateway drug to pizza.
And we are not pressuring China at all for their production of it. Granted some other country will move in but China has more to lose.
Fentanyl isn’t the cause of anything... It is people doing stupid things.
My reply? Guns are designed to PREVENT MY being killed or maimed.
I can’t help but think that the current trend to legalize marijuana is feeding into this. Addiction is a process that leads to people seeking stronger and stronger sensations as their bodies become habituated to whatever drugs they started with. When one drug no longer gives them a satisfactory “high,” they seek other drugs. Once that process has started, it is irreversible because addiction literally remolds parts of the brain in ways that make the allure of mind-altering substances nearly irresistible. They can, in some cases, achieve sobriety—but the addiction can always kick back in, even after years of being clean.
No problem with that.
Add in identity thieves, predators of children/old/sick, car thieves as well.
“That’s why we aren’t stopping it. Leftists are killing off Trump voters.”
Nah. If that were true we’d all be getting free feel-good packages from the left. Instead, they’re using the drug-addict issue to punish people who have legitimate chronic pain issues. This is SOP for lefties. Identify a problem, then nuke it with bureaucratic idiocy to make everyone suffer instead of dealing with the actual problem.
How about secure the borders, destroy the gangs and cartels operating in the U.S., and go after the doctors who are part of the problem instead of treating ALL doctors as if they are behaving criminally and ALL patients as if they are drug addicts.
But there is too much corruption at this point. So nothing sane will be done. Expect more madness.
