A Massachusetts landlord told a Harvard University graduate student that he wanted her to move out of her apartment because her legally owned firearms made some of her roommates uncomfortable.
"Since it's clear that Leyla wants to keep her firearms, it would be best for all parties if she finds another place to live," Dave Lewis, president of Avid Management, said in an email to the household obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
The request that the student, Leyla Pirnie, move out came after her roommates searched her room while she was not home and found her firearms. That prompted one of the roommates to email Lewis requesting he verify that Pirnie was in compliance with applicable firearms laws.
"We discussed with Leyla that all of us are uncomfortable with having firearms in the house, and that their presence causes anxiety and deprives us of the quiet enjoyment of the premise to which we are entitled," the roommate wrote to Lewis.
Pirnie said she feels her roommates violated her privacy and now they and her landlord are trying to violate her rights.

Snowflakes all.......................Just wait. One day they will all WISH FOR ONE FIREARM IN THE HOUSE..................and then they will remember Leyla...................
What next? We don’t want you living here because you drive a Ford?
Can a landlord prohibit perfectly legal activities on their property?
Yes.
But it needs to be stated in the Lease.
Where’s the aclu now? Oh, I forgot. They deny the 2nd amendment. DOH!
Looks like her roommates are going to have to tack a settlement onto their student loans.
They searched her room while she was gone? Wow!
own the bldg
Most Landlords make it clear from the beginning on whether firearms are allowed by the tenants. Some Landlords don’t want firearms stored within properties they own or manage.
I support the second amendment, but I think storing firearms on the premises is something a landlord can disallow by policy. Either one agrees to these conditions or they don’t.
Same as with having a pet. I would expect that to have been discussed already.
Now as far as having her roommates search through her private luggage because she’s from Alabama and they saw a MAGA hat. That is flat out wrong. I would demand a different dorm. These girls are too immature, ignorant and intolerant.
They’re not going to change anytime soon.
I suppose they have their safe space now.
I’m sort of uncomfortable with disrespectful idiots rummaging through my stuff.
“The request that the student, Leyla Pirnie, move out came after her roommates searched her room while she was not home and found her firearms. “
Also known as “burglary”.
“One day they will all WISH FOR ONE FIREARM IN THE HOUSE.”
I agree they are snowflakes, but disagree with eventually wanting a firearm. They are brains washed to the max that the government is here to help and is the answer to everything. Firearms are something bad and to be feared. If they actually felt the need for a firearm, and given one, they’d be more apt to shoot each other.
They have been purposely emasculated and dumbed down as not to represent a threat to anyone.
It is reminiscent of life, for 70-years, in the Soviet Union...
I think it is a room in a house not a dorm.
The roommates are certainly not respective of other cultures. Their needs to be a protest with them being labeled intolerant.
I wonder what the local press reaction would be if the lady were African American, Muslim, or an illegal alien?
The press needs to publish the address for the benefit of the local criminal element.
I hope the young lady sues.
There is a mental problem involved here.
Source of the problem? Massachusetts.
FYI- How to have your roommates pay for your college education.
I'm pretty sure the landlord would be within his rights to search his property, but not her roommates.
If she plays her cards right she might stand to make a bundle from lawsuits.
Free rent for life!! Lawsuit time.
I am sorry, but in a situation like this there are two choices. (1) Make everyone else leave. (2) Leave, but file lawsuits against the roommates and landlord and in the settlement that follows, make them post a very large “This is a gun free area” outside the dwelling so that all criminals will know they will be safe.
