Tijuana Health Officials: More Than One-Third of Caravan Riders Have Infectious Diseases

According to the Tijuana Health Department, more than one-third of those who rode the caravan from Central America are being treated for an illness. Out of the 6,000 illegal aliens who are currently in Tijuana, 2,267 of them are are ill. Diseases include respiratory infections, tuberculosis, chickenpox and other more serious conditions, Fox News reported.

The Tijuana Health Department spokesperson who spoke with Fox News confirmed that there are:
• Three confirmed cases of tuberculosis.
• Four cases of HIV/AIDS.
• Four separate cases of chickenpox.
• At least 101 have lice.
• Multiple skin infections.

The department is also warning about a potential Hepatitis outbreak because the caravan riders are living in unsanitary conditions. Part of that is because thousands of the illegal aliens are being housed at the Benito Juarez Sports Complex near the San Ysidro United States-Mexico Port of Entry. The shelter is only designed to hold 1,000 people and has 35 port-a-potties for them.

"People aren't able to take showers, they sleep on the floor, nobody is cleaning the bathrooms, so the conditions are there for a major infection,' Carlos Betanzos, a coordinator for Ministerios Nazarenos de Compasión, an Evangelical aid group, told The Daily Mail. "We've had lung disease, flu, diarrhea, hypertension. One guy yesterday had chicken pox - but thankfully just one."

Betanzos said their main concern right now is the flu, which is likely to spread amongst the group because colder temperatures and rain are beginning to set in.

"The main danger is flu because it's getting colder and it's going to rain. If there is chicken pox it will be impossible to stop, it could infect thousands. f nothing changes it's a case of when, not if, there is a major outbreak of disease," Betanzos explained. "I would love to say there will not be deaths here, but it can happen because there are not enough doctors and medicine. The government was not ready for this many people."

The living conditions are unbearable, which is causing some of the caravan riders to self-deport. Around 80 self-deported on Tuesday alone. Mexican officials did deport 98 people who were involved in the border clash with Border Patrol on Sunday.

Clara Daniela, 17, and her boyfriend, Jose Hernandez, 25, fled El Salvador when Daniela's cousin was killed for not joining a gang. They brought along their one-year-old Fernando.

Natural progression.....

It’s really quite interesting how ‘silent’ and ‘distant’ the UN is on this........who was real quick to help the Middle Easterners in Europe......so where’s all the world organizations stepping up to take on this crisis????

I see nothing of these people doing anything to help themselves. Even in the squalor they ignore the obvious.

How friggin stupid. They have thousands of people milling around doing nothing useful, including not even cleaning the bathrooms after themselves. Turn on the lights and watch them scurry for darkness.

Wow! The only Mexicans I know make me look like I don’t know how to clean. I saw a family making tamales once. It smelled like the entire house had been cleaned with bleach. The were all wearing white t shirts and had white hair coverings. The Mexicans that I know here legally clean my school and do a fantastic job. As a group, Mexicans are clean. I don’t like Fabuloso, but they clean.

We should shut the entire border. Everything is infected and should not be allowed in. I’m banning all food grown from South America from my diet.

Unwed Clara 17 and Jose 25 with 1 year old son. Doing the math Clara could have been 15 when she conceived and Jose 23. Is this the values W assured us don’t stop at the border?

My manicurist is a legal immigrant from Mexico. She is very clean and is a kind, hard working, young woman. She decorates cakes and sews for customers as well as doing nails. She detests illegals, thinks they cheat the system and are lazy just looking for freebies. She can get really wound up about it and is not shy of expressing her opinion.

Why you would subject your kids to this when being offered other accomadations is insane...

It's a game of political chicken that's being played out right now. The organizers are telling the illiterate squatters that the new DemocRAT majority in Congress is their salvation (they don't know any better - they come from corrupt governments, so they're easily convinced that the DemocRATs will defeat "El Trump" and change things for their benefit).

¡You only have to wait until January! ¡Señora Pelosi will save you!

Will it work? We'll see.

IMO, if you can determine country of origin, exclude Chile from your plans. They are much better and much more first world than the rest (plus they have great wine).

Is Peru OK for our asparagus?

California asparagus comes to us looking like small tree trunks.

I do not buy any produce from Mexico including avocados for reasons that might ruin your breakfast.

I have a legal Guatemalan housekeeper. I had to tell her to quit using Fabuloso. I can’t stand the smell of it. I make her use real products, not from the Dollar Store. lol But she was refusing to quit with the Fabuloso. They love that stuff!

Just wait until smallpox rears its ugly head. We’ll have to start shooting them if smallpox is discovered. By then it may be too late.
