CNN chief political analyst Gloria Borger on Thursday said a source close to Michael Cohen told her that Cohen has "the goods" on his former boss, President Trump.
"'Michael has the goods,'" Borger said on CNN, reading her source's quote. "'He has extremely valuable information.'"
Cohen, Trump's longtime fixer and attorney, pleaded guilty Thursday for misstatements he made to Congress while testifying about his contacts with Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Cohen appeared in a federal court in Manhattan after reaching a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating ties between Trump's presidential campaign and Russia. According to court documents, Cohen pleaded guilty to making a false statement about the effort to build a Trump Tower in Moscow during the 2016 presidential campaign. He also said that he made false statements about the timing of the project.
"And so this clearly goes beyond the Trump Tower Moscow ... although that is crucial and important," Borger said on CNN. "But if Michael Cohen is talking, and we know how close he was to Trump at certain points, how loyal he has been to Donald Trump, and we also know the things that were being asked in the grand jury."
"I think Michael Cohen, who was the man who said he would take a bullet for the president, has now become Brutus to the president," Borger said. "Because he has this need now to - his people say - tell the truth and come clean and is no longer in the business of protecting Donald Trump, which is what he did for all those years."
Cohen has reportedly spent more than 70 hours in interviews with Muellers office since he pleaded guilty to multiple federal crimes in August. He indicated in court that he had violated campaign finance laws at the direction of then-candidate Trump.
The violation stemmed from a $130,000 "hush money" payment to adult film star and director Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence about an alleged 2016 affair with Tump.
Mueller's team is reportedly working on its long-awaited final report.
Is there some sort of rule that says a candidate for office must divest all business prior to winning any election? I don’t think so. The person would have to have ESP to know they would win. And so far, the gubmint doesn’t require businessmen to have ESP.
For nearly 4 years now I’ve heard about people with “the goods”. Paging Tom Arnold!
“Without evidence”
This ugly corrupt leftist entire Life is a LIE .
If true, it seems like an odd move for a Prosecutor to demonstrate his star witness is a liar before he has him testify.
There's collusion right there...MSM is really piling on this new story...Two problems that I see...The media spin creating the perception that Trump lied and did something illegal AND, if Trump now unlocks the redacted FISA documents, it will be twisted that he's only trying to distract and cover his own lying...Not good...
“We got him now!” number 845.
She hasn’t been wet for decades.
Mueller us under investigation for that very thing. He knew these people were not guilty of the crime they were charged with, but he got guilty convictions for all of them and sent them to jail. These were not really nice guys, but they were not guilty of the crime they were charged with, Muller knew, and yet he continued his prosecution.
Impossible to know exactly the timeline, just that the lying charge was a trap just like he has done with each & every conviction he has secured thus far. Every last one of them. The man is a crooked SOB POS who needs to be charged, convicted and given the death penalty.
If he had the goods, Mueller wouldn’t have made him plead guilty to another charge.
And by having him plead guilty to LYING under oath, Mueller has undercut his credibility for any further statements.
So this story would make no sense.
More fake news. Borger is a liar.

Cohen: "Trump did it."
PDJT: "No I didn't."
CNN: "Well, there you have it, folks. Trump must be lying."
