President Trump on Wednesday threatened to declassify documents related to the Russia investigation that he claimed would be damaging to Democrats if they decide to investigate him when they take control of the House next year.
Trump's comments, made in an interview with The New York Post, come two months after he walked back his original plans to declassify and publicly release the documents as a result of concerns from U.S. allies and his own Justice Department.
“If they want to play tough, I will do it,” Trump told the Post. “They will see how devastating those pages are.”
He suggested that the documents would serve as a “counter punch” to Democrats if they choose to investigate him.
“If they want to go and harass the president and the administration, I think that would [be] the best thing that could happen to me because I’m a counter puncher and I will hit them so hard, they’ve never been hit like that,” he said. “You know what? I think that will help my campaign. That will be the beginning of my campaign as president.”
The White House announced in September that Trump had ordered the declassification of the documents, which include surveillance warrant applications on former campaign adviser Carter Page and text messages related to the Russia investigation from former FBI Director James Comey and other officials.

Schumer and the Democrats are going to cave. Trump is going to get his $5 billion and the wall will be completed by Autumn of 2019.
How can he receive 5 bn and the wall be done in 2019 when trump says he needs 25bn?
I'm sure the 40 Republican reps who had their seats flipped are super happy Trump kept his ammo dry until his own self was on the ballot.
On the other hand, if he says this the media will fall into the trap of criticizing him incessantly about his threat to release national security documents, his politicizing them, etc. And in the real world people who didn't even know these existed will say "Why do they keep talking about this? why would that be considered a threat? Whats in them? Is it really bad?"
He'll get more traction by making the media criticize him for talking about them before he releases them than if he just dumped them to the public directly.
He sounds like a petulant child. I like him, but I don’t like it when he does stuff like this.

No, it has nothing to do with disagreeing with me. It simply means these posters were making anti-Trump statements, such as saying that he’s all talk and no action, saying that he’s all empty threats, saying that he has failed to keep his most important promises, including building the wall and draining the swamp, saying that there are things he should have done a year and s half ago that he has still not done, etc., etc..
One poster said Trump was no different than the Democrats.

Well, they're scheduled to testify. Whether anything comes from the testimony (can you spell "ican'trecall?") remains to be seen.
IMHO, it'll be a grand show and that's all. Nothing substantial.
Revenge is best served on the first day of the new Congress when the Dems take over the House.
If what Trump says is true about these documents, it could derail if not destroy any wackos attempts to hold hearings on Russian collusion, Trump Towers, WikiLeaks, etc. Hopefully these documents will show the public just what a bunch of insane Democrat aholes are in the Congress - Nadler, the commie; Schiff the Insane; Swalwell the More Insane; Blumenthal the psychopathic Liar; Whitehouse, the unidentified new form of life; Coons -a little Napoleonic mental midget who needs a stepstool to find the top of his empty head; Warner - a true Airhead if there ever was one; Waters - proof that the Insane can walk and chew gum at the same time as normal people; Pelosi - proof that crime pays; Cummings - proof that a sleazy bastard can succeed in politics if he’s a Democrat; etc.
The Democrat Party has more “clowns and jackasses” in this Congress than Barnum & Bailey had in all their circuses over the past century.

He has kept more promises then any President in my lifetime and that includes Reagan. So you’re snarky comment concerning “new motto” has no credibility here although would probably be well received at the DU.
Since you were presumptuous enough to give me advice, I’ll give you a bit......Try your schtick over at the DU as you’ll likely fit right in there.
I will and want to trust the man, as he hasn’t been wrong about anything that I can think of. But, if the information contained in those documents is what we all think and/or hope it is, then we DESERVE to know what’s in them.
It’s no different than the $17million they spent on sexual harassment payouts. That was our money. We DESERVE the right to know who paid what. I don’t care about the “victims”. Let them keep their anonymity.
But, these people take being called a scumbag, to a whole new level.
Just do it and get it the hell over with!
