Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith has won Mississippis Senate runoff, defeating Democrat Mike Espy despite controversy over recent comments.
Hyde-Smith had 56 percent of the vote to Espys 44 percent when the Associated Press called the race with more than three-quarters of all precincts reporting. The result means Republicans will hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate next year.
The runoff for the remainder of Thad Cochrans term was held because neither candidate got a majority of the vote in a crowded race Nov. 6.

For the full piece, the link takes you to politico so I chose not to go there. But, already claims of the dem being hung out to dry and (did I say that out loud?) and other stupid racis' remarks concerning the outcome. Probably from folks who never lived in MS.

"Republicans will hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate next year."
Good, but I still find this highly disappointing. We should have at least 55.

"...Mike Espy..."
Breaking news is that despite winning by a full 10% they just uncovered 34 million previously-uncounted votes that pundits believe largely will be aligned to Mr. Espy when analyzed by these same experts.

As I was cruising the channels this morning it was clear she won a decisive victory. How do I know? Because all they were talking about was Russia Russia Russia which is their safeplace when the real news is good for President Trump.

The playing of the racist card, gig does not seem to be working for Democrats anymore.
Their “DEMOCRAT” “Shining Stars”, Andrew Gillum, Stacey Abrams and Mike Espy all lost their elections in Florida, Georgia & Mississippi.

That majority is slimmer than it looks due to the presence of Collins, Murkowski and Romney.

And the back story is, Obama went head to head with Trump to campaign for all of them

That majority is slimmer than it looks due to the presence of Collins, Murkowski and Romney. Absolutely correct. It will be just as hard to confirm more of his Court appointments, especially if they are constitutional conservatives.

Now PDJT can advance SCOTUS nominees who are Constitutionalist and pro-life, and Collins/Murkowski can go climb a tree.

Yeah, I channel surf the news in the morning too and noticed that even Fox News gave the story low priority.

How so? Collins, Murkowski & Romney vote against, leaving 50 for. VP makes it 51. Done.

THat’s because Fox sucks, too.
Oh, and climate change is more important anyway.

Agree. Should have held AZ and picked up MT, at minimum.

Collins, Murky and Romney are merely the worse of the RINO bunch. There are several other turncoats to worry about.
In other words, we don’t have a comfortably reliable majority.

I predicted 53 in the Senate and +2 in the House. Without the rampant cheating, I would have been low on the GOP gains in both cases.
