Someone told me about this today. Heartbreaking. I know you cant walk while Jewish in Paris, but not in LA??? This is very sad. I live near a couple orthodox shuls w/Eruvs and on all sabbaths and holidays the whole family can be seen walking to synagogue. Id like to think we still can walk. I mean of course I cant walk in a maga hat, but I had hopes sheitels and yarmulkes were still respected around here with nearly as many Jews as in Tel Aviv.
Last time I visited a synagogue in LA (the "Library Minyan") it was surrounded by a high fence with with security guards at the entrance. (This was several years ago.) It very much reminded me of the way things are in Europe.

I got off an elevator in McLean Va in a parking garage and there were two ME men talking very loudly about Allah, which is rare. We were walking to our car and I noticed two very nervous Jewish people (a man and his son) loading things into a car. Apparently I interrupted their harassment of the Jews.
