I know you can’t “walk while Jewish” in Paris, but not in LA???

Last time I visited a synagogue in LA (the "Library Minyan") it was surrounded by a high fence with with security guards at the entrance. (This was several years ago.) It very much reminded me of the way things are in Europe.

I don’t know where the Library Minyan is, but in the most Jewish areas of LA, it hasn’t gotten that bad yet. We have a lot of obviously kosher businesses here as well as storefront little shuls, Hebrew lettering, even though not far away will be a Lebanese deli or something with Arabic writing on their signs.

I actually missed most of a wedding in Geneva Switzerland when we couldn’t find the synagogue because it was so well hidden. And our synagogue had an address there but it had a giant steel door/gate. It isn’t that bad here yet.
