Guys - read these two stories to get back to outrage status over the phony Obama GM Bankruptcy back in 2009. Her $70,000 in bonds they stole are worth $5,320 about one minute ago.

GM is focusing on hybrids but they are killing the Volt hybrid. Doesn’t that tell them the public does not want these hybrids?

someone i know just had a hybrid given to them, apparently this hybrid recharges whiel driving- no plug in necessary- why aren’t car manufacturers seeking to refine this technology instead of requiring expensive electric plug in recharguing?

Maybe they can all go to work for the Democrat Party?

They’ve been paying them for years.

I doubt that President Trump will be silent about this. Thank the Lord for President Trump.

Ford also (not so recently) announced that they were ending the production of sedans, and that soon, the only non-SUV offering in their stable would be the Mustang.

They didn’t mention specific layoff or plant closures at the time, though (I might have missed it).

Chrysler has already pretty much done the same thing, axing the 200/Dart.

The public has voted with their wallets, and the humble (or not so humble) sedan has lost the election. They are currently unprofitable, and with the entrance of China in to the market, will become a complete boat anchor, so the big 3 are throwing in the towel and sticking to the big money - trucks and SUVs, with the occasional high-profit sporty car on the side.

I bought my Malibu a couple of years ago, when they had a 30% off sale. 30%! Practically giving them away. That said, I like it, 35+ mpg highway is nice, and the Bose stereo is sweetness, but in a few years, when it’s time to change cars, what will be available for me? Probably just another generic SUV/CUV. Huzzah. I may not like it, but I’m just one of those dinosaur consumers, stuck in the past.

Whatever.

The Chevy Volt needed to be put out of its misery. There never was a true market demand for it. It was never anything more than a feel-good, public relations caper.

“Amid flagging sales, General Motors confirmed on Monday that it will no longer make the plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt, ceasing production on March 1st, 2019.”

the chevy volt was the ultimate obamamobile ... its sole purpose was to suck up to obama when he was Prez ... just like when “donations” to the clinton foundation dropped 90% after there was no play to pay, GM drops their obamamobile for the same reason: no play to pay with obama gone ...

July 2010: GM to Increase 2012 Chevrolet Volt Production to 45,000 and Obama Drives a Volt

A few weeks ago GM announced they would be producing 10,000 Chevy Volts in 2011 and 30,000 in 2012. Now apparently due to strong consumer interest the company has decided to increase that second year production number by 50% to 45,000 cars.

Obama's "kiss of death" for anything "green" continues unabated.

The higher end Buick’s that they made before they went bankrupt were some of the finest cars on earth.

I was raised in a GM town, always bought GM products, was a small shareholder for many years (sold in time and made money), and would have stuck with GM through a legitimate bankruptcy. But the UAW bailout killed my brand loyalty. GM was not bailed out: the shareholders lost everything, the bondholders got pennies on the dollar, the secured bondholders were illegally looted, management was purged, the dealers were purged, the suppliers took a hit … and the UAW was made whole, with $50 billion in giveaways.

The parasite killed the host, and Obama paid off the parasite. So I will never buy another car built by the UAW until the union repays what it took. Since that will never happen ….

The Volt was only produced to help satisfy fleet café standards, not because it made business sense or people wanted it.

This is what happens when inept politicians and environuts try to impose their wacked beliefs on businesses.

I suspect the death of the Volt is going to have a domino effect on a whole bunch of other unprofitable obmamamobile pay-for-play EVs .... EVs were always a government mandated “fad” that was never really going to get off the ground ... once the artificial gasoline price increases under obama were nuked by Trump, there was not even a smidgen of an economic reason for anyone to want of these white elephants ... look for more announcements of EV models being discontinued by other manufactures ...

The EV market isn’t that big, but Tesla M3 is currently mopping up this category of auto sales. GM’s EV sales have deteriorated recently and they are on the verge of losing the federal consumer tax credit after selling 200K compliant cars..
