Just when you thought New Jersey couldn't get any bluer ...
Democratic leaders of the state Legislature in Trenton have quietly resurrected a controversial proposal to ask voters next November to approve a constitutional amendment overhauling how the state draws its legislative districts.
Sponsors say the goal is to make the process of choosing state lawmakers more fair, rendering an electoral map more reflective of the voters in the Garden State.
But critics warn Democrats are trying to rig the system in New Jersey -- home to 900,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans -- to tighten their grip on the state even further.
New Jersey already has a Democratic governor, a Democrat-controlled Legislature, two Democratic U.S. senators, and a 12-member U.S. House delegation that, thanks to this month's elections, will soon have only one Republican.

Advance reply to their near future request fora bail-out: No.
“...More Fair.”
Ayn Rand wrote books about this stuff.
Guess taxpayers weren’t fleeing fast enough.
New Jersey is another one if those SHTHOLES.
“New Jersey is another one if those SHTHOLES.”
New Jersey IS THIS COUNTRY’S PRIMARY $HIT HOLE! It’s where New York and Pennsylvania take a dump! The Federal Government should let it sink into its self-made sewage treatment pond.
Gerrymandering is great and wonderful when you are a democrat and it favors democrats.
In neighboring Pennsylvania, it was an attack on our entire way of life when it favored republicans. So it had to change. Even violating the PA Constitution to do it.
In red states, RATS scream gerrymandering and take it to court to present it to a friendly judge.
New Jersey is not a s***-hole, not by a mile. It has armpits like every other state, but it actually is an amazing blend of hills, farms, beaches and pine barrens.
Several counties are in the top 20 nationally in per capita income.
What’s going wrong is that elitism has set in, and solid Republican districts have swung towards the Democrats. If we can’t win in Bergen or Morris county, we have a national problem.
New Jersey redraws its districts every decade and won’t do so again until 2021. But this resolution (SCR188/ACR4) would ask voters to approve a number of changes to the process — including one that would require at least 10 of the state’s 40 districts be deemed “competitive.”
Still, a district would be considered “competitive” based on how each political party performed in the previous decade in elections for president, U.S. Senate, and governor. That would benefit Democrats, since the party has 700,000 more registered voters in the state than Republicans do.
Murray said the measure uses a “tortured definition of the word ‘competitive’” because it would allow data to be “manipulated” to give Democrats a larger advantage in some districts.
New Jersey because hell is full.
I have lived in New Jersey and do remember it fondly. However, facing the facts, did not the voters of NJ re-elect Robert Mendez to the US Senate? Case closed!
And there is the difference. Fight it.
Sometimes they try to trick you by flipping the question. Instead or "This question is to authorize additional bonds to be issued..." becomes "This question would disallow the issuance of additional bonds ..." That's not exact but they do flip the question to try to fool knee-jerk "no" votes, so I read them carefully.
Whichever answer is less appealing to entrenched money and power hungry politicians is the one I select.
I NEVER VOTE FOR A TAX OR BOND IN CAL We spend 21 billion a year on services to illegals. Take it out of that,
The blue states have locked it all up where no one can get in. Did anyone know who ran on the republican ticket in NY against beedy eyed andy Cuomo?
