Those looking to buy a gun in New York may need to submit their social media profiles and search history prior to purchase if new firearm legislation in the state becomes law.
Under the legislation drafted by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and State Senator Kevin Parker, both Democrats, up to three years worth of search history on social media would be able to be reviewed, ABC Action News reported.
Senate Bill 9191, according to WHAM, mandates "social media and search engine reviews prior to the approval of an application or renewal of a license to carry or possess a pistol or revolver; requires a person applying for a license to carry or possess a pistol or revolver or a renewal of such license to consent to having his or her social media accounts and search engine history reviewed and investigated for certain posts and/or searches over a period of 1-3 years prior to the approval of such application or renewal; defines terms." Under the proposed legislation, law enforcement officials could investigate "commonly known profane slurs used or biased language used to describe race, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, disability or sexual orientation; threatening health or safety of another person, or an act of terrorism."

I save my $h!tposting for an anon sock account.
Well, okay NY. Just so long as NONE of my federal taxdollars are involved, knock yourselves out. I predict no change.
A direct violation of our rights enumerated under the 5th Amendment.
We cannot be compelled to testify against ourselves.
Our 2A rights are not privileges. We cannot legally be required to give up 5A rights to exercise 2A rights.
“Glad I dont live near there. Never have been to NY, have seen enough big cities to last me the rest of my life.”
NY is a very big STATE with a lot of rural areas. It is NOT one big city. It’s just that the majority of the population lives in the very small city part, and they are friggin’ nuts. But they control everything with their sheer numbers come election day.
” Had a good friend in NM who came from Upstate NY. She owned an import/export business on Long Island.”
Long Island is not upstate NY. Unless you mean she was from upstate before she went to long island.
“Im pro-gun-rights. But,”
This is spoken exactly like a Northeasterner, a “But conservative”
Every person alive, in this country or not, has the natural right to defend themselves. Since we don’t have razor sharp claws, teeth, antlers, or can run really fast we need our superior brains to craft weapons and tools.
the gun is just one of those tools. And that tool is the great equalizer - A little old lady can defend herself from a horde of young, fit and violent men because of this invention. Anyone can put food on their table. It’s not an exclusive club.
It is the job of Congress to make sure that we, it’s citizens, are armed and trained to take on any enemy (And squelch uprisings).
I have two friends. One kicked the car door of his exwife after she packed up the kids to move in with her new boyfriend and his larger paycheck. His daughter was in the back of the car. did you know that kicking a car with a child in the back is felony endangerment to a child ? He didn’t.
He has a felony record now and 30 days in jail. That’s it. 30 days in jail. Felony.
My mother’s best friend is manic depressive. Somedays she is funny and hyper and happy to be alive - others she just sits in the house all day and listens to music and cries and writes poetry.
When we say “But..” what we are saying is that those people do not deserve the natural ability to defend themselves. We are telling them, in action, that they aren’t worth living. That they aren’t the same as us, they aren’t granted god and nature’s gift of self defense.
At clearest, we are saying that they are second-class citizens. Readily deprived of something that we hold so dear.
That is the reason I don’t dig on Northeast Conservatives. They always claim one thing, but easily offer up exceptions. This sort of reasoning is what lead thousands of CT residents to line up at the barracks to register their rifles and magazines. I know only ONE MAN who didn’t and that man is a true patriot.
Everyone deserves the chance to defend themselves in a manner that THEY choose. Regardless of any paper, law or allowance.
If we are worried about others getting hurt by the insane or the dangerously angry then the answer is simple: Everyone on the planet has a natural right to defend themselves. If they choose not to, or are convinced that they can’t (And don’t deserve it) then they get mowed down like the rest of the lawn.
Finally, if anyone out there wants to completely end rape, do this: Write a law that allows all women, age unspecified, to carry a gun and provide that gun to them without paperwork, without reason and for free. This will end rape overnight. To deny such a law is to flat-out say that you think rape should still exist.
I know MANY people will have problem with what I’m saying, but I’m prepared - I’ve fought people ratherly loudly in person and I have no problem doing so through text on a screen. If any northeastern “But conservative” wants to meet me face to face and debate, I welcome it wholly and without reservation.
One look at my screen name and I’m in trouble.
As far as guns and tenants, I limit them to house no more than 3 firearms and no more than 250 rounds of ammo in any unit I own.
Understand,I am not a landlord so I don’t know what rights a landlord has in regards to his rental units. Do you have the right to inspect units for contraband?
IOW, any excuse will do.
They will find something if they want to deny you.
Fort Drum is in the middle of nowhere, and it’s red coutnry, like the rest of Upstate NY.
NYC ruins it for the rest of the state and we hate it but cannot overcome the parasite that NYC is.
You missed a beautiful part of the state and some wonderful people.
I didn’t miss anything.
That's not anywhere near an accurate analogy.
Population wise, NYC has us. Land area, yeah, we're larger, but land area doesn't vote.
New York Population 2018
http://worldpopulationreview.com/states/new-york-population/
"New York State has an overall population density of 421 people per square mile, with an area of 47,126 square miles. When most people think of New York, they immediately think of New York City, the largest city in the US. New York City is also the most densely populated major city in the country. Nearly 43% of New York state's population live in the 305 square miles that comprise New York City. The next largest city in the state of New York is Buffalo, with just over 250,000 residents. This means New York City is over 33 times larger than the second largest city in New York. New York's state capital Albany is home to just under 100 thousand residents."
I’m not surprised you’d think that but since your mind is made up, you likely wouldn’t have appreciated it anyways.
Mope. I spent a lot of time in Germany. I already know what living in cold places run by gun hating liberals is like.
I sure don’t see any
Malfunction There!
The gun hating liberals don’t live in Upstate, especially around Ft Drum.
NYS is not one big NYC.
The population figures of the city might make you think this, but the real power is in who these people are. They are rich and powerful.
And I’m sure there’s plenty of vote fraud to take care of the close races.
Considering how universally hated Cuomo is by everyone I’ve ever talked to, you have to wonder how he ended up with 2/3 of the total vote. Even if every other voter who didn’t vote for Cuomo had voted for one man, there was still no way Cuomo was not getting in.
NYC runs and ruins the state.
Then they would more than likely
