Conservative writer and conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi is in plea negotiations with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, according to Corsi and another person with knowledge of the talks.
The talks with Corsi — an associate of both President Trump and GOP operative Roger Stone — could bring Mueller’s team closer to determining whether Trump or his advisers were linked to WikiLeaks’ release of hacked Democratic emails in 2016, a key part of his long-running inquiry.
Corsi provided research on Democratic figures during the campaign to Stone, a longtime Trump adviser. For months, the special counsel has been scrutinizing Stone’s activities in an effort to determine whether he coordinated with WikiLeaks. Stone and WikiLeaks have repeatedly denied any such coordination.
Stone has said that Corsi also has a relationship with Trump, built on their shared interest in the falsehood that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.
It is not clear what information Corsi could leverage to get a deal with prosecutors. However, he told the Daily Caller last week that prosecutors are focused on whether he had developed a source with inside information about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s plans.
Corsi said he did not have a direct source to the group. Instead, he said he developed a theory that Assange had access to hacked emails belonging to Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and that WikiLeaks would release them in October 2016.
He told the Daily Caller that he shared his prediction with many people, including Stone.
If Mueller could prove that Corsi learned about Podesta’s emails from Assange or another person in contact with him, he could try to link WikiLeaks’ releases to Stone or others in Trump’s world.

Corsi claims he fell into a perjury trap with the FBI and failed to convince them he obtained the Podesta information he used in a October 7, 2016 prediction from public sources. The FBI didn’t buy it. See what you can make of it!

So, if a journalist uncovers a crime, then that journalist caused the crime and anyone he associates with has also caused the crime?

Nice editorializing in a news article there. What President Trump and Corsi have in common is their interest in Obama's undeniably FORGED birth certificate and draft registration card.
The screen of probity in government investigations has been stripped away by the arrogance of Mueller, Rosenswine et al.
If you want to “get” someone and find NOTHING, because nothing is there to be found, you go after associates, business partners, social friends and PRESS THEM.
Threaten THEM with prosecution until they finger your real target with imaginary

Such tactics are as old as ancient Rome and medieval witch hunters or as recent as Stalin or Hitler.
And yet this punk Mueller continues to operate with impugnity, without scrutiny ir censure when EVERYONE knows EXACTLY what is going on here!
It makes one wonder how widespread this tactic really is in law enforcement.

This Mueller investigation is nothing but political payback.
Maybe Whittaker will remove Mueller and replace him with a realm special prosecutor who will also look at the real Russian collusion, Uranium One, The Clinton Foundation, the Clinton e-mails and the fraudulent FISA Applications, as well as the conspiracy at DOJ and FBI to cashier President Trump.
Correct. These alleged “journalists” can’t produce one document expert that will vouch for Barry’s BC, yet Sheriff Arpaio has two court certified experts (one from the US and one from the EU who say it is an obvious forgery!
I really don’t understand what’s going on here. A basic element of any “conspiracy” is secrecy, and now we are talking about two publicity-seeking polemicists in Mueller’s crosshairs. What the hell?

Can someone tell us why Corsi ever talked to Mueller? What did he have to gain — except a perjury trap trial before a DC jury that will hate Republicans?
The article reports:
“Podesta did not work for the DNC and the emails were stolen from his private Gmail account, not an address linked to the Democratic Party.”
So, IIRC, the Russians are supposed to have stolen DNC stuff, but who stole Podesta’s emails and how does the FBI think Corsi got them from Assange, if that is what they think?
What this has always been about is to criminalize anything the GOP does during a campaign. Fairly soon putting forth a campaign advert will be labelled “obstruction of justice.” At the same time, anything the left does will be immunized.
Trump needs to appoint a new AG and have the AG appoint a second special counsel to blow this wide open. The investigation can start with the Clinton e-mails and be allowed to expand to anything and everything including the appointment of a special counsel and its conduct during this investigation.
