Law requires them to seek asylum in the first safe country they enter. That would be Mexico, and Mexico offer them asylum. They are not seeking asylum they are seeking to illegally enter the USA.

Judge Tagar only ruled their claim to asylum should be heard. He didn’t say how it should be processed.

Most of them don't care about how it will be processed. The vital question is where are they going to be while their cases, and the inevitable appeals following, are in the system.

The asylum seekers do not even need to leave their own country. They can go to the American Embassy, or an American Consulate in their own country and request an asylum application.

Why don’t they do that? Because they know a faster way to get permanent residence in the U.S. Get just across the border illegally, apply for “asylum”, get a hearing date, get released into the U.S, while waiting the hearing date, and then never show up for the hearing.

Or, they can even get a “tourist” visit, fail to leave when the visa expires, then apply for asylum, and skip out on their hearing dates, ad infinitum.
