An American man was killed on an island inhabited by a tribe known to resist outside contact in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. And, his body still lies there.
The American was identified as 27-year-old John Allen Chau, who sources said was a Christian missionary who wanted to convert the Sentinelese tribe that inhabits the island where he was killed.
Chau was killed by members of this tribe, which is protected under Indian law, a senior police officer told India Today TV.
The officer stressed that the Sentinelese must be left alone and that any forced contact with the outside world could put them in danger.
Another article said the victim was an adventure tourist.
Dude went into an off limits area to make a forbidden contact with a protected tribe. One of the reasons they were protected was to protect them from diseases they had no protection from.
They were known to be hostile - which is why the local fishermen he bribed dropped him off a distance from the island.

That might be the case; good observation. I wouldn’t expect him to go in there alone, though. You have to have a team, all studied up on the people’s cultural taboos, etc., then approach in a strategically sound mode.
The sentiments seen here in the thread a few times, that no one should go in there with the Gospel, are mostly incorrect. Jesus said “Go ye into all the world...”

There are a number of reasons they are off limits - one was to prevent them from being exposed to diseases they have no defense for. One bad exposure could wipe them out as a viable population.

No one on this site could have predicted the interpretation of the liberal journalist who reported on it. According to him this was the Sentinelese saying to these government officials, "Don't forget us!"

That roused by curiosity, too. How did they arrest them? Did they have to go to war to arrest them? Many unanswered questions there. I just noticed your screen name. Hey, your’re not one of them, are you?
If this tribe wanted outsiders, they’d have opened a resort and advertised it online. If they wanted to be saved, they’d have posted a job listing for a preacher on Monter.com. When a tribe lives on an island and resists outside contact, respect their wishes.
We could use a few of their border guards here.
