Four people were killed - including a Chicago police officer, ER doctor, pharmacy resident -- Monday afternoon in a shooting at Mercy Hospital on the city's Near South Side.

The gunman, identified to the ABC7 I-Team as Juan Lopez, 32, was also killed.

The victims were identified as Dr. Tamara O'Neal and Chicago police officer Samuel Jimenez. A pharmaceutical assistant was also shot and killed, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said during a press conference.

Gunfire erupted inside and outside the hospital after 3 p.m. at the main hospital, located at South Michigan Avenue and West 25th Street.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said late Monday that the shooting began in the parking lot outside Mercy Hospital as part of a domestic dispute between O'Neal and Lopez.

Prayers for the innocents. Once again, love unrequited goes punished by a nut bag that doesn't know how to handle loss or take NO for an answer. Guess chiraq needs to pass some tougher gun laws huh? Will these assclowns ever see that NO laws will keep assclowns from doing what they want? NOPE! If it hadn't been for the firearm FORCING the perp to do what he did, blah, blah, blah. Will the bulls have some t-shirts made up like the lakers did?

Lots of people get shot, and many of them die every week. What makes this one so special?

One thing I’ve noticed is the names of policemen getting injured or dying are more frequently Spanish with every year.

Still the minority for sure, but their ranks are growing.

Why would Hispanics vote dem when the VERY REAL consequences of violence and lawlessness are affecting them more and more as they climb the ladder to middle class?

Because he holds a public sector union job and his retirement pretty much depends on politicians stealing your money to fund his pension.

I agree with you that they are all tragedies, and this one is another like the others. Having said that, this occurred both outside and inside a city hospital, a police officer with children was fatally shot, and many more people in the hospital could have been shot. Also, this was a case of the shooter killing his ex-fiance who was an emergency medicine resident MD at the hospital. It's tragic all the way around, and certainly could have been worse.

oh yeah lol

A lot of paesans on staten island are/were union guys but they voted Trump and vote R down the line.

At least my friends.

I guess they know VERY FEW Rs have the guts to make any real changes or even try.

We all got very frustrated with a family member who is quite Conservative, but also a unionized public school teacher.

He consistently voted against his beliefs and for his pension for close to three decades. Then he retired. Now that he feels his pension is safe he’s a reliable R vote.

The hypocrisy drives us all crazy. He is not the only one, believe me.

My guess is that your Staten Island union guys work in the private sector and not government.

Sources said. Hmmm. Guess it’s time to revoke all CCW permits. And, let’s not just do it in chiraq, let’s do it nationwide because no one needs to have assault rifles, or something.

Deadly shootings in Rat strongholds just as the Rats are preparing a full court press against our Second Amendment rights. Coincidence? I think not.

In 'shoot-don't shoot' training scenarios it is amazing how quickly a threat to others becomes a threat to you.

You think you have time to react as the perp redirects his attention to you....

but, only if he's already in your sights and your finger is on the trigger.

We've been asking the exact same question about the Jewish people for years. I'm beginning to wonder if white Protestant culture is the only culture that truly understands independence.

The Irish cop was a big factor in assimilation of Irish into American culture. I'm all for Hispanics using the same route!
