Exactly right. Basically just declare that “this is not working out for us” and simply leave. The more they prolong the exit the worse it gets.
The EU will fuss and make idle threats but they’ll get over it within a year. They have lots of far more pressing problems to deal with inside their own block. They’ll quickly move on to the next crisis and Great Britain will sort out its own issues.
A year from now Brexit will be a forgotten issue.

Good point. Why waste time wrangling with and fretting over a bunch of EU bureaucrats who a just making lots of noise? Ignore them and do what you have to do.
