The sad thing is, had LBJ actually been assassinated, a bunch of useful idiots on "our side" WOULD be trying to co-opt his failed "legacy" and touting how "conservative" LBJ was and how he "would be a Republican today". They'd do the same thing they're doing with JFK, and cherry pick one or two comments he made during his presidency to "prove" what an outstanding Tea Party-like figure he was.

For example, here's an actual LBJ quote:

See?! Whatta guy!! TODAY'S Democrats have CHANGED. They are now godless atheists and wouldn't allow a great patriotic pro-life Christian like LBJ in their party today!! Heck, even one comment earlier in this thread was extolling the virtues how "honorable and patriotic" ROBERT Kennedy was. Yes, the guy ran to the LEFT of LBJ in 1968 on a Cindy Sheehan type platform.
