GOP senators are nudging President Donald Trump to give up hopes for a $5 billion down-payment on a border wall in 2019.

“My goal is to get the [budget] bills passed” in December, said Sen. Richard Shelby, the GOP chairman of the Senate’s appropriations committee, said Nov. 15 after meeting Trump for a budget discussion. His committee has penciled in $1.6 billion for the wall in 2019, compared to the $5 billion in the draft House bill.

“If it’s ‘Wall or nothing!’ they’re going to get nothing,” the top Democrat on the Senate’s appropriations bill, Sen. Patrick Leahy, said November 12.

The negative nellies criticizing Trump are like gnats attacking a T-Rex.

Can we, as citizens, start a gofundme account to donate for this wall? I would surely contribute.

Numerous posters on this thread were blaming the House and Ryan. I tried to point out that its the Senate under Mitch that is the problem.

Its Mitch’s Senate. It up to him to get the votes to pass, regardless - my point was that it was not the House. If you don’t understand why its Mitch’s problem to cajole twist arms or whatever to get the votes, then I can’t help you.

Mitch needs 60 votes to pass it - he doesn’t have it. Take the 1.6 Billion and move on, else the new Congress (House) will give you ZERO for 2019. That’s the reality.

Trump can simply go with the Constitution and have the military build the Wall. In 2 years it is complete and all the Dems & Rinos can do is bulldoze it down.

Mitch does NOT need 60 votes to pass anything.

Call up your poly sci teacher and tell him he failed you.

The Soros agents are sneaking in faulty comments.
Otherwise the Public School illiterates have left momma’s basement.

I like the idea but it may be impractical. He would want to raise $5B, but that would require $100 each from 50M people (Trump got 63M votes). I just don’t see that kind of response.

How much could go toward the wall if each transfer of funds from U.S. to south of the border had a surcharge of 10-20%?

I’ve stood in line, at the post office, behind people sending $500.00-$1000.00 at a time to family in their home country. They do this monthly....tax the money, tax goes to Feds and then to build the wall.

So look, is there a way to weaponize the Democrat refusal to fund the wall? I mean weaponize the refusal so as to hurt them?

There are 12 Demon Rats up for re-election in 2020 in the Senate. I don’t have the interest right now in analyzing House races.

Here are the Senate Rats:

Doug Jones, Alabama

Chris Coons, Delaware

Dick Turban, Illinois

Ed Markey, Taxachussetts

Gary Peters, Michigan

Tina Smith, Minnesota

Jeanne Shaheen, New Hampshire

Cory Spartacus, New Jersey

Tom Udall, New Mehico

Jeff Merkley, Oregon

Jack Reed, Rhode Island Plantation

Mark Warner, Virginia

Trump carried Alabama and Michigan, came within a hair’s breadth of taking New Hampshire and Minnesota, and was competitive in Virginia.

Target some of these guys.

If you want to be gutsy, maybe the White House could find good reason to re-locate some of these illegals in blue states like Oregon and/or Delaware...and then when the crime increases due to the presence of the illegals (as it will), the President can TRUTHFULLY say, “Well, we wanted to stop this kind of problem, but senators Merkley and Coons thought we were overstating the issue. Maybe they can work with us and get a border wall. Or, maybe they’ve been in power too long. Time for a Republican to do the job they won’t do.”

Donald Trump Hits a Congressional Wall on Border Wall Funding

Perhaps he should consider a Plan B - More concertina wire and a minefield.

Why doesn't IDIOT McConnell just drop the Senate vote to 50 & get TRUMP's Border Wall funding done & $50 Billion + have his DACA deal done on his terms? No more illegals coming over = No more wins for Democrats!

I don’t know, it’s a crisis now, and we keep getting told to wait until next election, but nothing gets done no matter who gets elected. Trump will have to keep using executive power, and when a district judge knocks him down, get it to SCOTUS quickly. Try using DOD money.
