As the hand recount in Floridas contentious Senate election got underway in Broward County, it quickly became clear that Democrats were headed for a bad day. This is the county where incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson needed to net thousands of new votes on Friday. But minutes into the recount, that became unlikely.
Broward County is at the center of Nelsons hopes for defeating Republican Rick Scott, who currently leads by fewer than 13,000 votes, because there were tens of thousands of ballots in the county that registered no vote in the Senate race. Because Broward is a heavily Democratic county, the Nelson campaign had hoped that those so-called undervotes were actually votes for Nelson that the tabulating machines had skipped over. But on Friday morning, it quickly became apparent that this was not the case.
Instead, its likely ballot design that put a significant dent in Nelsons vote totals here in Broward County, and may have cost him the race. The Senate candidates were listed right under the instructions on the ballot, and voters moving quickly could easily have overlooked that race.

In that county, the ballot design was unique.
Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest
Actually now that I think about it the voters in broward were at a disadvantage this time around since they didn’t have corrine brown’s “who to vote for” handout.....she’s a little preoccupied don’tchaknow. ;)
Those not smart enough to review the entire ballot probably should not be voting anyway.
Did you catch the part that said “ballot design” could have costume Nelson the election?
Bastards stole like 30,000+ votes from Rick Scott before the HEAT got too intense for them to get even more!!!

Infuriating but true.
Well I remember the 2000 debacle when they all blamed Gores loss on a flawed ballot design.
But just like this time it was designed by democrats.
But still, it is clearly Trumps fault because he is a racist and stuff.
Time to drag out:
SORE
LOSERMAN
For Fla. an Ga.
An effort to take hammer that FATASS Abrams needs to be launched. She is nothing but a SORE LOSER. She is dragging GA. thru a controversy for NO REASON at all.
She will be running for Senator in 2 years and MAX DAMAGE needs to be done to her brand NOW.
No they played it perfectly. Get people to focus on FL and ignore what happened in AZ, CA, WI, and MT.
I am starting to think that bipartisan election oversight needs to be institutionalized at the county level. If that means paying for two county clerks, so be it. Bipartisan representation should also be required for the county workers handling elections, just as it is for staff and observers at the polling places on election day.
I don’t understand about the ballot design. Where I voted it’s s computer screen showing the candidates’ names. You can only select one for each race.
Pretty simple.
It’s a paper ballot. Instructions in first column.
Second column begins with governor. If you start there and go down you miss the senate race at the bottom of the first column.
I saw this by googling.
Doesn’t Matter Silly Rabbit !
This is the last election Fl will ever see a Republican victory anyhow. A Million and half democrats, I mean felons, can vote next time.
And that, more or less, is what this is all about.
Ever since David Boies went into court on Al Gore's behalf and made the argument that "voter intent" as determined by a court instead of actual arithmetical counting of votes should determine who rules, I knew that we were finished unless the other side could somehow be persuaded to stand down.
But the chain of events since November 2000 has made things worse, not better.
When Kerry lost in 2004, the media reacted by stepping up their efforts to modulate voter intent. In 2008 and 2012, they were convinced that their efforts had succeeded, that the "intent" of the voters was now aligned with their performance on Election Day.
But since this has proved false, they have become agitated, crazed, willing to do anything to enthrone "voter intent" (communism) over what actually happens when the voting takes place.
I’d this the provisional ballot?
Because only a 'crazy person' would vote for a Republican.
We become more and more like the Soviet Union every day.
No.
I know because I googled it.
