A disruption at a Baltimore performance of "Fiddler on the Roof" made national news today. A man stood up before the act break of the seminal Jewish musical and shouted, "Heil Hitler, Heil Trump," holding his arm out in a Nazi salute.
The story ran like wildfire, with national outlets and reporters picking up the Baltimore Sun's story of the "pro-Nazi and pro-Trump" salute. There's just one problem: The police report investigating the incident clearly states that the man loathes President Trump.
In the police report obtained by the Washington Examiner, the reporting officer, Jake Aumack, says: "During my interview of [the suspect] ... he advises that the final scene before intermission reminded him of his hatred for Donald Trump which caused him to stand up and yell, 'Hail Hitler, Hail Trump' [sic]. He further advises that everyone around him got angry, and he didnt realize there were so many Trump supporters. It appeared to this officer based on my interview of Mr. Derlunas that his intention was to express his dislike of Donald Trump."
This didn't stop the fake news from proliferating. The Huffington Post called the incident an "anti-Semitic and pro-Donald Trump outburst." The New York Post also deemed it a "pro-Trump outburst," as did the Boston Globe. Dean Obeidallah called the incident "pro-Trump" on Twitter. Even though individual reporters have since realized the mistake, the fake news still runs rampant.
Errors are human, but reporters still must do their due diligence to scope out all of the facts, including easily obtainable police reports, before uncritically sharing tweets and articles filled with literal fake news.

The media creating the news to fit their narrative again.
The progressives, like their progeny the Nazis, are incapable of conducting their business openly.
It’s always distortion, deceit and manipulation.
Stupid reasoning skills beget stupid actions.
I guarantee no one in that audience thought him saying ‘Heil Trump!’ was him expressing DISLIKE of Donald Trump.
Thanks for ruining what was probably a very entertaining evening out. Fiddler On The Roof was a popular theater performance back in the 60’s and 70’s. For a while, it seemed set to never leave Broadway.
Dean Obeidallah is a Palestinian comedian, of all things.
He’s a moron and an oxymoron!
the poor Leftists
they know so very little

Pretty smart if u ask me.
A number of regular newspapers reported the story honestly, I noticed, after going beyond the Washington Examiner.
To my Jewish brethren at FR, I’m sending articles like this to my rabbi with the comment, “You won’t find this in the mainstream media or the local Jewish press (as a whole)”.
Let your local Jewish religious leaders, educators, and media read what they don’t know about, don’t care about, or missed (because they don’t look at FR, etc).
Ask them for the courtesy of a reply comment about what you have sent and if they have seen it elsewhere.
We used to do this with our newsletter at CAMERA and Accuracy in Media. Send them information and ask them if they know about it.
We need to keep our brethren informed since most of the media wont’.
Fakebook has blasted it everywhere that it was a “pro-Trump” message and a “pro-Trump” salute.

And who did not know that?
The Baltimore Sun and other news reports updated to include the quote that he was an anti-Trump protester but they buried the lede because they did not include it in the headline and everyone who posted the article on Facebook (you can search “posts” there yourself) IDed him as a Trump supporting neo-nazi who Trump “would defend” as “a good person”. As did their Red Dupe rube friends and Bernie Bot Bros who posted comments underneath those postings.
