The Irishman pretending to be hispanic lost to the Canadian hispanic. Very good.
Keep counting! Beto wins!
Beto was a much more appealing candidate than Hillary. Anyone could’ve beaten Hillary.
Cruz got 200,000 less votes than he did in 2012. But Beto got 800,000 more votes than the Dem did in 2012. So it at least appears that Beto’s gains were all about mobilizing voters that didn’t participate 6 years ago.
Nominee Ted Cruz Paul Sadler
Party Republican Democratic
Popular vote 4,440,137 3,194,927
Percentage 56.6% 40.6%
The GOP’s biggest challenge is getting better candidates.
Good candidates just don’t fall from the sky, they have to want the job, and be willing to take the arrows that come with it.
Robert = “Beto” to appeal to Hispanics. Rafael = “Ted” to appeal to gringos.
51% to 48%. Three percent
In Texas with a very conservative incumbent versus and gun grabbing open borders dui/hit and run lib.
Once Texas goes blue....
I'm really concerned how close it was in Texas - which is rapidly transforming into a blue state. I know the Texans here like to boast on how conservative they are compared to the rest of the country but I hope these results were a wake-up call for them. Instead of patting themselves on the back all the time, maybe they need to look inward and set things right in their own backyard before it is too late. They also should probably come up with another Republican senator to run in 2024 because the Dems are likely to flip the seat next time around if he is the incumbent.
how well will Cornyn do in 2020?
That's scary
[ Texas Senate Election Results: Beto ORourke vs. Ted Cruz ]
Huh. The liberals at the New York Times listed Beto O’Fake first.
Imagine that.
Seems to me the bigger issue is changing hearts and minds through areas outside of politics. If your voter’s a brainwashed liberal based on all the media and education they’ve consumed their entire lives, one candidate isn’t going to be able to mind-wipe them in one election cycle. We had some good candidates like Dave Brat who lost this round.
Ted Cruz is an idiot
He should have won this with 10-15 point cushion, easy
Beto was a nobody who wanted to gun control and a whole ton of crap that Texans wound’t go for
What happened?
Trump supporters did not come out as they would have if Ted wasn’t a giant idiot with a ego to match
If Ted wasn’t an idiot, we wouldn’t have had to spend a boat load of cash to save his seat. Think about other elections we could have won with that waste of money.
Ted doesn’t care about republicans, republican voters, or his constituents and he proved that in 2016. His numerous cry baby stunts made him look like a total buffoon in the end.
Some of us do. I think he is unintentionally pretty funny.
Texas isn’t turning blue
They just didn’t like Ted Cruz cause he is a giant jackass
Valdez was poorly funded and ran no TV ads, while O'Rourke plastered TV with ads, as well as yard signs and a big social media presence. The power of a $70 million budget is evident. While he lost, the Democrats flipped two U.S. House seats and a significant number of seats in the State Legislature. From their standpoint, the money was well spent.
Greg Abbott won by 1.1 million. Candidates matter.
This is the result of liberals fleeing California because they screwed it up so bad. In 5 years or less Texas will be a liberal shxthole.
Bob would not have gotten anywhere near off the ground had it not been for 3 billionaires:
George Soros, Tom Steyer and his own father-in-law.
In the MOST expensive Senate race in history, Bob still lost.
