Sen. Jeff Flake announced Wednesday that he will not vote to advance any new judicial nominees through the Judiciary Committee, nor will he vote to confirm picks on the Senate floor, until he gets his way on unrelated legislation to prevent the firing of special counsel Robert Mueller.
Mr. Flake made the announcement on the Senate floor minutes after his bid to pass the bill failed.
His threat could block the committee from approving any more judges this year, since the GOP only holds a one-seat majority on the panel.
Its less catastrophic to approving judges on the Senate floor, where the GOP holds 51 seats. Even losing Mr. Flake, Republicans could still approve judges on a 50-50 vote with Vice President Mike Pence breaking the tie.

Flake will lose
He’s such a bully. Can he be stopped?
Romney is going to take up where Flake left off. I hope they have a strong conservative to replace Flake on the Judiciary Committee.
Why can’t they call a recess and let Trump do recess appointments?
I do not believe appointment to those committees is for life.
The turtle could simply replace him.
Like F-ing NOW!
The committee is able to pass forward nominees without approval. It usually isn’t done, but Grassley can send nominees to the floor for a vote.
I don’t think Grassley and McConnell will let this loser pull a McCain on the way out.
A futile gesture from a small, petty excuse for a man.
And Flake has a couple of RINO friends in the Senate that are more than willing to help.
Just like McCain, his ego makes him willing to screw the whole country in a final gesture to hurt Trump. So glad that he will soon be gone. Good riddance!!
Flake needs another bribe before the door hits him in the butt?
He’s not doing this in a vacuum. He speaks for the party of bush, the GOP.
Besides, even if Trump served for 8 years, he’d only make a dent in the 870 or so radical leftists already on the bench for life.(changing out 300 of those) ‘Conservative’ judges are a long term solution. We don’t have long term.
Flake is lining up for a gig at MSNBC or CNN as their pet token “republican”.
Not sure I’m following, but I think the article says Flake will be able to block candidates’ nominations from being approved by the Judiciary Committee (is that right?) but even if he can, can’t the votes be taken up by the full Senate even if the committee is log jammed?
Maybe take him to the sin-enema.
This guy Flake is a total douchebag
Support Free Republic, Folks!
Sigh....recess appointments are only good until the end of the current congress, which is Jan. 1, 2019. It wouldn’t do much good would it?
Romney is going to take up where Flake left off.
**************
Exactly right. Romney will be the new McFlake.
