Graham backs bill to protect Mueller

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday said that he would support a bill to protect special counsel Robert Mueller.

“I would certainly vote for it,” he told reporters, according to Reuters.

“I don’t see any movement to get rid of Mueller. But it probably would be good to have this legislation in place just for the future.”

Graham co-sponsored a bill to protect the Mueller investigation in April 2018 that would codify Department of Justice regulations that say only a senior official can fire Mueller or another special counsel.

The special counsel is examining ties between President Trump's campaign and Russia during the 2016 election.

Democrats and some Republicans have raised concerns that the ouster of Attorney General Jeff Sessions threatens the investigation.

Trump replaced him with Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general, who has criticized the probe in the past.

Democratic leaders, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), have called for Whitaker to recuse himself from the investigation.

"Given his record of threats to undermine & weaken the Russia investigation, Matthew Whitaker should recuse himself from any involvement in Mueller’s investigation," she tweeted. "Congress must take immediate action to protect the rule of law and integrity of the investigation."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Friday that legislation protecting Mueller was not needed because he doesn't believe President Trump will fire the special counsel.

I am not saying he wasn’t handling it. I was saying fairness isn’t part of the equation.

Reading between the lines: Graham thinks it would be good to protect ALL special counsels, including any new ones that Whitaker or his AG successor will soon appoint to investigate REAL crimes, including FISA abuses and cover ups of the Klinton Foundation by the 0zombies of the Deep State.

Hes an executive branch employee.

The president can fire him, he works under the exec branch. to say an executive underling can fire him but not the president is ridiculous. underlings do not have more executive power than the president.

graham is back to being a homo moron.

Put a wall funding rider on this bill and bet you Trump will sign it. Make sure there’s a severance clause since it’s unconstitutional anyway.

“.... Trump is happy to let him chase squirrels.”

Mueller has become some combination of Lavrentiy (Show me the man) Beria and the fictional Inspector Javert. When all his mess finally concludes and he tries to fade away, the squirrels with equal vigor may incessantly chase him.

Personally, it seems like Sessions was compromised. At a minimum.

That’s how it read to me.

I don’t claim to able to PROVE that so I’ll just say IMHO.

YMMV - and I understand

Oh well Trump can do with Mueller whatever he wishes to do whenever he wants to as I see it and lets hope Mueller gets the boot.

Will Graham be the head of a Senate Committee this time around?

Here is the answer to the Mueller problem:

The acting attorney general expands the probe’s scope to cover the Hillary collusion with foreign nationals and Russians to effect the outcome of the election and to provide fake information to the courts. Also, add pay-for-play with the Clinton Foundation while she was secretary of state.

That would be the end of Mueller. He would resign, which would expose the fraudulent investigation once and for all. This bill would never pass. It would all be over.

So, at the risk of repeating myself...

It is so great to see (now that Sessions is gone) Mueller has finally been fired. Pantsuit, Zero, and all the other deep-state SpyGate criminals are finally behind bars....

Sessions haters here on FR are finally happy...

/s

The fact is, Jeff Sessions got blamed for “failing to do” a bunch of things that Trump didn’t really want done: firing Mueller, locking up Hillary, etc.

Doing those things would appease the most bloodthirsty of Trump’s supporters, but it would also be political suicide for Republcans - just like impeaching Clinton was political suicide - yet “conservatives” were screaming for it...

Let Trump be Trump

“That’s Linda...”

Everyone stop for a moment. This isn’t going anywhere and Graham as well as several others are posturing so they can keep the moderates happy. Graham will never see this coming to a vote and if he has to vote, as long as his vote isn’t needed he will throw away the vote just to say he did.
