Lutheran pastor and author Nadia Bolz-Weber has argued that there should be no shame in consuming pornography, especially if it is "ethically sourced."
In a recent interview with the New Jersey-based LGBT publication Out In Jersey, Bolz-Weber discussed her upcoming new book on the issue of sexual ethics and the church.
In discussing pornography, Bolz-Weber explained that while she recognizes that there are "issues of justice and exploitation within the porn industry," she still does not believe that the "consumption of pornography should be shamed."
"There is ethically sourced porn. There are people who say it's sexual immorality, but if you take Liberals and Conservatives who show outrage and made a Venn diagram of those who consume pornography, you'd see a huge overlap," said Bolz-Weber to Out in Jersey.
"There are people who consume pornography in a shame based way, it would be horrible if people know because they are those who are morally outraged as Liberals or Conservatives. That's a lonely place to exist, let's take that part out of it. I'm not going to shame people when they already feel ashamed."
Bolz-Weber's comments have drawn criticism from some, including conservative Christian author Rod Dreher, who argued that Bolz-Weber "inadvertently indicates why progressive Christianity has no future."
"If there is a more cartoonish example of progressive Christianity than a foul-mouthed lady pastor praising consumption of 'ethically-sourced porn,' I can't think of it," wrote Dreher.

Personally I believe porn production harms everyone who participates. Whether they eagerly signed-up or not.

Since she is divorced and without a regular “job”, I imagine that her royalties and speaking fees keep her solvent—or more than solvent!!!!
My Orthodox Priest informed us yesterday that our Temple is a house for sinners!! Period!!!! I know that he is right!
But if any of us sinners chose to indulge in porno (”ethically sourced” or not), we would have to include that in Confession, and repent of it! REALLY!!!!

If we are saying, as this is a member of clergy here, if we are saying pornographic displays following God’s blessings of human sexuality, are we saying that we would film married couples??
But then, what is the reedeming social value to the viewer here?
It seems like a lot of sects (Catholic, Lutheran and Methodists to name a few) are now becoming politicized and embracing diversity. What does Revelation say about a falling away during the end times?

There is a world of difference between sinners knowing that they need a physician and come for healing and sinners who seek to deliberately infect the flock of God.
Our shameful lack of God-endued discernment has removed this difference from before our eyes.

The lawyer asked the plaintiff, “Have you ever gone into an art gallery?” The plaintiff responded, “Yes.” The lawyer continued, “Have you paid to go into that art gallery?” Again the plaintiff responded, “Yes.” “Were there paintings of naked people in that art gallery?”, the lawyer asked. “Yes,” the plaintiff responded. “So why do you call that art, but Playboy pornography?” The plaintiff did not have a response.

Ravi Zacharias notes that while both art and pornography utilize nude figures, the purpose/motives for portraying the naked body are definitively distinct. Pornography utilizes nude figures for the pure purpose of stimulating the baser instincts of individuals; instincts that will not be satisfied by that alone. Art, on the other hand, utilizes nude figures for the purpose of highlighting the beauty of man. While pornography engenders lust, art engenders admiration for the glory and beauty of the human body, and thus the glory of its Maker.
