Several major Florida media outlets are running stories today explaining that the likelihood of the contentious Florida election recount changing the results of Tuesdays elections are very small. That is good news for Republicans, bad news for Democrats, on a couple of fronts.
The state's largest paper, the Tampa Bay Times, reported:
"...a recount that reverses an initial margin of more than a few hundred votes would be unprecedented in the recent history of American elections.
According to an analysis by the nonpartisan group FairVote, which advocates for electoral reforms that make it easier to vote, out of 4,687 statewide general elections between 2000 and 2016, just 26 went to a recount. Of those 26, just three recounts wound up changing the initial result of the race: The 2004 Washington governor's race, the 2006 Vermont state auditor's race and the 2008 Minnesota U.S. Senate race. The average swing in those three elections after the recounts? About 311 votes."
The states second largest newspaper, the Miami Herald, ran essentially the same story and statistics. Expect more to follow.
Remember, Republican Gov. Rick Scott has a 12,500-vote lead over Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson and Republican Congressman Ron DeSantis has a 34,000-vote lead over Democrat Andrew Gillum in the governor's race after official tallies were in. While those are tiny leads in such a big state, they're huge leads for a recount.
For a recount that does not find a major error or corrupted system (Broward County?) there is nothing remotely suggesting that this weeks recount will do more than change a few hundred votes. But even if it changes a few thousand votes, the results would still remain the same.
The difference between this time and 2000 in Florida and the 2008 Minnesota race for U.S. Senator is that the margins now are much larger and there are no more votes being added to the total. The uproar raised by Republicans and Republican lawyers to stop Broward and Palm Beach counties from continuing to find votes well past the legal deadline were successful in both the courts and the eyes of the public.
So unless some court wrangling and a liberal judge allows Broward to manufacture some more Democrat votes yes, that sounds cynical but its pretty hard not to be then these are the vote totals. The recount will just find anomalies.
Thats why Gillum was in church Sunday politicking away and demanding every vote be counted, because he knows without more votes added to the total, the recount wont give him the election.
The fact that the media is running these stories this Monday morning is also an important sign. Their readership is heavily Democratic for obvious reasons, and this acts to adjust expectations as those reporters who actually understand Florida voting laws and history realize the chances of changing the outcome of the two big races are very tiny.
If the recount does maintain these results, the left will still fly into hysterics and rage and march and protest and generally throw a tantrum. But theyve been doing that almost every day since Donald Trump was elected president anyway.
Agreed.
But I’ve wrung my hands WAY too many times about Trump and have been proven wrong repeatedly.
I am sure he reached out in some way to Scott and others and said “you’d better fight and fight for your life”
A good leader spreads courage throughout his entire army.
Or just to get the opposition (read: conservatives) to quiet down so they can do their Dem ballot-stuffing in peace...
Yet some other races had the outcome changed due to “newly found votes”. I think there was one in Indiana. At least three in Cali and what’s the current status of AZ Sinema/Sally?
And are the Abrams sistas going to flip things in GA?
And how many in TX had the wrong outcome due to illegals voting?
I hope Trump and/or the GOP do something about this before 2020 or we just may end up with a president Hillary.
I think Trump’s new AG is going to get serious about going after voter fraud.
Apparently the GOP had signed some little-known consent decree back in the 70’s saying they would NOT do that.
I heard it recently expired.
I have been one that has been dampening calls of fraud and so forth because AZ is just counting mailed ballots that are legal votes but don’t get counted until the election. It sucks, and I hate that Sinema is ahead. But, that’s life. You lose some elections. It hurts.
But, in FL, there is statistically NO CHANCE of a Dem victory. NONE.
I did some research. The biggest vote count change in a recount? Florida in 2000 (when I joined FR under another name when in high school).
The chance would have to be ten times that to overturn this result.
It won’t.
IF IT DOES, it’s fraud. Pure and simple. There is no other option. If Nelson somehow emerges the winner of a recount, I will call it fraud then.
I hope you are right - about the AG going after the voter fraud!!!!!
If true about the measure that has expired, very good!
Yes, but they are done with that count. There is no path for a Nelson victory that is not fraudulent. Scott will win.
The best Dems will get out of this is another bloody shirt like the one they got to wave around for a decade after Bush v Gore.
Probably, but this one is going to SCOTUS, just like Bush v. Gore. From the lack of concrete enforcement action against the antics in Broward, we can see just how corrupted the Florida institutions are.
I hope you are right about the Senate & Governor races but that still leaves the Commissioner of Agriculture race in jeopardy. Adam Putnam vacated it to run in the GOP Primary for Governor and while Wednesday reports had GOP Matt Caldwell winning, the ‘problematic votes’ from the cess pool now have the Democrat Nicole “Nikki” Fried leading by 5,326 or 50.03% to Caldwell’s 49.97%. Right now all 3 races are in a rerun by machines to verify the counts. If this Commissioner of Agriculture race remains this close it will be mandated to go to a hand-count.
My smell is that the Democrat protest team will push for all three races to be hand examined and throw enough protests to move the needle in their favor. As the mantra goes, “count and recount until you win, then stop!”
Lets face it
Why would Florida come this close to electing a communist
The importation of blacks Asians and Hispanics and the northern invasion of the past
And I hate to tell folks
Next statewide election or so they will win
No doubt !
« We need a...rooting out...of Democrat election corruption. »
Its very difficult to deal with psychotic, adolescent, well-organized Democrat scu&bags with power, especially when they subvert the press, voting laws, and have an enforcement arm in ANTIFA that operates with impunity.
IMHO
Vote counts by legitimate voters should have no margin of error. The errors and changes come into play when the person was not registered to vote and voted. That is why thee should be a decline in Dem votes when investigated and the illegal votes are identified and eliminated.
Abrams is just throwing a tantrum. It’s over. Kemp is already transitioning.
Its not the 70k in Georgia.
Its if it falls below 50% requiring a run off. That is what Abrams wants
First call on the obvious difficulties there came from US Senator Marco Rubio (R), so give hime some credit as well.
I think the Media is realizing that there is too much sunlight being shined on what’s happening and is trying to bury it.
