Miami-Dade County announced today that it has finished counting votes for the 2018 election.
But photos obtained by New Times show scores of mail-in ballots sitting inside an Opa-locka mail distribution center — the same center that was evacuated last month after alleged mail bomber Cesar Sayoc's pipe bombs passed through the facility.
Several local activists demonstrated outside both the mail facility and at the Miami-Dade County Elections Department to try to bring attention to the ballots. Two sources who spoke with New Times allege hundreds of ballots might still be inside.
Suzy Trutie, a spokesperson for the Elections Department, told New Times her office was aware of the ballots but confirmed nothing else about them. She said that, per state law, any ballots not delivered to the Miami-Dade Elections Department by 7 p.m. on Election Day could not be counted toward the 2018 total.
"We do our best to educate voters that, if you’re voting vote-by-mail, then your ballot had to be at the Elections Department by Tuesday, November 6," she said. "Not everybody mailed back in time."
Asked whether the ballots had been sitting inside the Opa-locka center undelivered on Election Day — or when the place was evacuated — Trutie referred questions to the United States Postal Service. (After this story was initially published, Trutie added that the Elections Department ran daily post-office pick-ups this election season, and picked up ballots three different times on Election Day.)
Ty Russell, a reporter with CBS Miami, tweeted minutes ago that he'd spoken with USPS and that it was not aware of any ballots being mishandled.

The incompetence and indifference of government employees is always truly astounding.
In my district (in Michigan), we take our ballots (fill in circles), and we feed it into a machine that count them right then and there.
Why the hell are ballots just nakedly sitting somewhere where they have to be counted at some later point in the day?

As an aside, if they knew all the stuff had to be in by 7pm Tuesday, thus giving a cutoff the the ballots, then WHY are they still “counting” at this time???

Well, one would have (wrongly) thought that after the Bush v gore fiasco this area would be more highly scrutinized. Not just a change in voting methods but tighter observation.
That’s exactly what I wrote on another post. Spend the extra money and have one of those in each voting precinct. Feed the results into the county elections office in real time. In the meantime the county elections office could be opening and tabulating all the mail in ballots. They would have an exact total by time of vote close.

I had to sign a little sheet of paper on Election Day at my precinct, presumably to help trace the ballot back to me. There was no mamby-pamby about what to do with the ballots. Sign the little sheet, fill out your little ovals, and feed you ballot into the machine.
For such a dumb, corrupt state, Maryland seems to be getting the sh*t right.
A deliberate ploy in linking this mail center in heavily-black Ops-locka with "MAGAbomber" Cesar Sayoc.
They know the deadline to count them has passed so they're going to make a case they couldn't count them in time because the mail center was effectively shut down by an unhinged Trump supporting Republican and an exception should be made.
The Feds need to order Floriduh to hire a private company to run their elections for them. Obviously, “voting and sh*t” is just too complicated a task for their government bureaucrats to handle. Hiring incompetent morons to run the system hasn’t worked.

The deadline to request that a vote-by-mail ballot be mailed is no later than 5 p.m. on the 6th day before the election. However, the ballot must still be received by the Supervisor of Elections no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day if the voted ballot is to count. Exceptions exist for overseas military and civilian voters.
A 10-day extension exists for overseas voters. The overseas voter’s vote-by-mail ballot must be postmarked or dated by Election Day and received within 10 days of the election in order to be counted, provided the ballot is otherwise proper. This 10-day extension only applies in presidential preference primary elections, general elections, and special elections and special primary elections (by operation of section 100.191, F.S.)
So these ballots don't count.
But what if forensics determined that they were:
1) all Republican ballots?
2) all Dem ballots?
3) might a camera in the USPS facility show the area where the ballots were located, and who might be in the area?
4) overseas / military ballots spoiled by USPS delays?
I do NOT trust USPS union workers - they have been proven to be too partisan to be objective. I don't trust USPS management either but for different reasons.
A former postmaster (manager of a facility) works in one of our offices. She is one of the most rabid anti-Trump, anti-conservative and anti-white people I know.
Except maybe Fulani, the CPOA VP candidate from 80’s and 90’s. She's that far left.

Does not pass the smell test: Polls close at 7 PM, but if there still people waiting in line to vote, they get to vote and it counts. How could ballots be delivered by 7 PM?
