Shocker: Various Press Organizations Chime in on Acosta Press Pass Saga
Townhall.com ^ | November 8, 2018 | Beth Bauman

Various press organizations have decided to chime on the Trump administration's decision to revoke Jim Acosta's hard press pass on Wednesday night.

The White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) slammed the White House and encouraged them to reinstate Acosta's access in a statement:

The White House Correspondents' Association strongly objects to the Trump Administration's decision to use US Secret Service security credentials as a tool to punish a reporter with whom it has a difficult relationship. Revoking access to the White House complex is a reaction out of line to the purported offense and is unacceptable

Journalists may use a range of approaches to carry out their jobs and the WHCA does not police the tone or frequency of the questions its members ask of powerful senior government officials, including the President. Such interactions, however uncomfortable they may appear to be, help define the strength of our national institutions.

We urge the White House to immediately reverse this weak and misguided action.

We encourage anyone with doubts that this reaction was disproportionate to the perceived offense to the video of the events from earlier today.

The Reporters Committee For Freedom of the Press had a similar sentiment as the WHCA. Here's their press release:

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, the nation’s premier defender of the legal rights of journalists, joins the White House Correspondents’ Association in vehemently objecting to the revocation of a CNN reporter’s access credentials. Journalists have a right to ask questions and seek answers on behalf of the American people.

This is clearly inappropriate and unprecedented punishment by the Trump administration for what it perceives as unfair coverage by the reporter, and White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders’ false description of the events leading up to it is insulting not only to the nation’s journalists, but to its people.

The founders of our country knew there would be tension between our leaders and our journalists. In fact, they designed our system that way, knowing that a free and assertive press is the best defense against tyranny.

We urge the White House to reconsider this overreach of power and to reinstate Jim Acosta’s credential immediately.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the Trump administration stands by their decision

Well, pajama boy will be welcome back to the White House once he has completed the 96 hours of protocol, ethics, and manners training.

Once he gets it signed off he MUST attend an oral board made up of General Kelly and Mrs. Sarah H. Sanders, along with a 3,500 word essay on why you cannot be mean to female interns....

That should satisfy it — Also with the understanding that was your first and second warning — No third warning next infraction results in permanent banning and revocation of WH credentials.

There is nothing in the Founders writing that suggest “the Press” was entitled to privileged access and special treatment by the President or any other Government office. “The Press”, once again, is assuming to itself privileges and powers that exist no where in the US Constitution. Accosta got what he deserved. Act like a punk, get treated like one.

Reminder the WH belongs to the people as does that microphone. The President of the United States is our designated representative to govern and oversee the use of the White House. Jim Acosta, and the rest of these self-important Big Media harpies, have no mandate our authority from We the People, and they do NOT represent us.

Eff ‘em all. Close down the press briefing circus to one day a week, and provide only faxed press briefings to a guard shack at a side gate to the White House for them to pick up once a day Mon-Fri.

Where were all these “journalists” when Obama was spying on the press? I guess that’s OK if it’s a Democrat doing the spying. But when a Republican president kicks an unruly stooge out, it’s the end of the world.

No one has been silenced. CNN is free to send another reporter, IF he or she can behave themselves.

An alternative is to have a set time limit for the press conferences and briefings. If anyone hogs the microphone and keeps asking questions and arguing with Trump, Ms. Sanders, etc. then let the reporters know in advance it takes away time from the other press members. The reporters yammer on about the importance of the press but they’re really just attention whores. If they start consistently loosing face time on national tv due to one or two of the other White House reporters, they’ll solve the issue themselves.

Push Asscosta to the back of the room and give his seat to someone with more credibility like a reporter for World weekly news

The WHCA has no credibility in this case. They are the organization that put on the charity dinner where they had the foul mouthed comedian verbally insult and abuse our Press Secretary, Sarah Sanders.

No standing in this matter.

We can only hope that in support of Jim Acoster, the rest of the bunch hands in their press passes. If they are making stuff up as they go, they really do not need to be there anyway.

What the Sanders should do is perform a statistical analysis and look at trends over the last 2 years of reporters that asked meaningful questions compared to reporters with a liberal narrative and support all anti-Trump efforts. Then shift the reporters with meaningful questions up front and the rest to the back.

[[The White House Correspondents’ Association strongly objects to the Trump Administration’s decision to use US Secret Service security credentials as a tool to punish a reporter]]

Well too friggin bad! Reporters can either be civil and refrain from stepping over the line, or they can be escorted off the property=- Simple- Deal with it!

Not one of those complaining would put up with aa person invited into their home and becoming obnoxious and nearly violent- There are rules- either play by them or suffer the consequences!

Ass was given more time than he deserved to begin with. He was trying to make it a debate rather than a news conference
