Jason Blum Gets Booed and Removed from Stage After Speaking Out Against Trump at L.A.s Israel Film Festival
Blum was at the festival to accept the 2018 Achievement in Film & Television Award.
Jason Blum spent the night of the midterm elections at the Israel Film Festival in Los Angeles, where he was on hand to receive the 2018 Achievement in Film & Television Award. Blum attempted to speak out against Donald Trump while making his acceptance speech, but his comments did not go over well with the crowd. Variety reports the mega-producer was booed and heckled by the crowd, and he was eventually removed from the stage.
A lot is on the line, the last two years have been hard for all of us who cherish the freedom as citizens of this country, Blum said at the start of the speech, which immediately attracted boos from the audience. As Blum continued, Variety reports some audience members began to walk out of the event held at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills.
The great thing about this country is that you can like Trump, but I dont have to, and I can say what I feel about it and I dont like it! Blum said. As you can see from this auditorium, its the end of civil discourse. We have a president who calls the press the enemy of the people. Thanks to our president, anti-semitism is on the rise.
Yossi Dina, an Israeli pawnbroker, jumped onstage and attempted to pull Blum offstage. The crowd cheered and clapped at Dina, who eventually backed off after a woman called security.
Enjoy the movie, and I love and respect all of you, Blum said. Now Im being physically removed, which is why Trump is not the right guy.
Blum later took to his Twitter page, reacting to the night by writing, Well, this night kind of went haywire.
Blum is the founder of Blumhouse Productions, which had blockbuster success last month with the release of David Gordon Greens Halloween. The companys upcoming releases in 2019 include M. Night Shyamalans Glass, Jordan Peeles Us, and Happy Death Day 2U.
I’ve never heard of this guy. Is there something that makes him important?
Definitely the wrong audience to play that crap to.
It’s always good to hear at least one bit of good news each day.
Tough crowd..............
Yeah, getting up and dissing the most pro-Israeli president in history in front of a crowd of Israelis who don’t take crap by their nature is not a smart thing to do ...
Never heard of this putz.
They apparently know who he is but know little of his political leanings.
Maybe they did but thought he would be gracious and apolitical.
Thanks to our President, antisemitism is no longer being ignored. It was rising and being ignored during the Obama administration, by both Obama and the press. Now it's getting the attention of the President (for good reasons) and the press (for foul ones). This fellow must be one of those who thinks things don't happen unless they're talked about on TV.
Im glad the article pointed out that he was a mega producer. I have no idea who he is. Last movie I saw in a theatre was Team America in 2004.
If I had been present, I would have kneed him in the nuts, and then thrown him off the stage - head first.
Guys like him are in serious need of an “attitude adjustment.”
Preferred method of said adjustment is a “blanket party.”
never heard of him....
but its wonderful some people actually spoke up, booed his
inappropriate political bullsheit
Did he make the mistake of believing he was 'speaking to the choir' or did he know their political views and decided to confront them?
These leftists always say the exact opposite of the truth. It’s really uncanny.
Blum said. Now Im being physically removed, which is why Trump is not the right guy.
I love this! Guy acts like a total ass, gets tossed out on his keister and blames Trump. HAHAHAHAHAHA
I don’t know, sorry
but it sure would be nice if ‘movie awards’ got back to dealing with good movies.... and not commie-leftist political diatribes by wacko nutjobs
Jason Blum and the other Hollywood losers call our President the enemy of the people - that's worse than calling out a corrupt press that works against half the American people. Eff the insensitive jerks.
He takes advantage of being on stage to accept an award and uses his moment to lambaste President Trump - while trying to hide behind the leftist narrative of having ‘civil discourse’...
Yet when others balk because that’s not what they came for and don’t want to hear it...he blames Trump.
Whatever happened to good etiquette of saying thank you and leaving the stage without going on a rant about something that has zero to do with the award?
Who???
